- El món de Rocannon (Rocannon's World) és la primera novel·la d'Ursula K. Le Guin, editada al 1966. La història transcorre en un planeta on conviuen tres ètnies principals; els liuar, humans amb dues subètnies, la dels senyors angyar, de cabell daurat i pell fosca, i els servents olgyor, de pell clara i cabell fosc. Les altres són els fiia, menuts, alegres i d'ulls grossos, i els gdemiar, troglodites grisencs, que abans eren un sol grup i que tenen certes capacitats telepàtiques. - Rocannonův svět (anglicky Rocannon's World) je první román americké spisovatelky Ursuly Kroeber Le Guin vydaný americkým nakladatelstvím Ace Books v roce 1966 (vyšel společně s románem The Kar-Chee Reign od ve formátu tête-bêche). Dílo náleží do cyklu Hain. Jde o první a jednu z více knih z autorčina vědeckofantastického cyklu Hain (jiným názvem Ekumen). Konkrétně tento příběh obsahuje i prvky hrdinské fantasy, spadá tedy spíše do žánru science fantasy. Původně byl román vydán bez předmluvy, autorka ji napsala až pro vydání Harper & Row z roku 1977. Zároveň byl Rocannonův svět vydán s dalšími romány Planeta exilu a City of Illusions v omnibusu Three Hainish Novels a tytéž tři díla vyšla opět v roce 1996 v omnibusu Worlds of Exile and Illusion. Příběh se odehrává na druhé planetě hvězdy Fomalhaut pojmenované Rokanan (Fomalhaut II). Hrdina Rocannon se během své cesty na planetě setkává s lordy žijícími na hradech a s jinými rasami (víly, gnómové). Autorka v knize poprvé použila neologismus „ansibl“ (anglicky „ansible“) pro komunikační zařízení umožňující přenos nadsvětelnou rychlostí, jenž užila i v dalších svých literárních dílech (např. v románu Levá ruka tmy). Pojem se ve sci-fi literatuře uchytil a rozšířil. (cs)

Though it is one of Le Guin's many works set in the universe of the technological Hainish Cycle, the story itself has many elements of heroic fantasy. The hero Gaveral Rocannon encounters lords who live in castles and wield swords, and other races much like fairies and gnomes, in his travels on a backward planet. The word "ansible" for a faster-than-light communicator, was coined in the novel. The term has since been widely used in science fiction. (en)

De Nederlandstalige versie werd uitgegeven door Uitgeverij Het Spectrum in de Prisma Pocketsreeks onder catalogusnummer 1624 (kostprijs 3,50 gulden). De Nederlandse pers besteedde nauwelijks aandacht aan Rocannon. Rocannon behoort tot de zogenaamde Hainish cyclus, al werd daar bij de Nederlandse uitgave geen melding van gemaakt. Samen met Ballingsplaneet, een ander deel uit de cyclus, werd het boek pas naar het Nederlands vertaald toen Le Guin daar furore maakte met de Aardzee-trilogie. De Shing-begoocheling was al eerder uitgebracht door Het Spectrum, Duisters linkerhand bij Meulenhoff. Le Guinn introduceert in deze roman het Weerwort. (nl)

Le Guin del 1966, edito in Italia nel 1984, ma precedentemente pubblicato nel 1973 con il titolo di L'ultimo pianeta al di là delle stelle. Costituisce il primo, in ordine di tempo, dei romanzi del Ciclo dell'Ecumene (Ekumene), o Lega di tutti i mondi, ossia pianeti collegati fra loro attraverso il volo iper-luce delle navi robotizzate prive di equipaggio umano, o attraverso il più lento volo alla velocità della luce delle navi con equipaggio umano; pianeti le cui popolazioni comunicano tra loro mediante l'ansible, dispositivo che consente la comunicazione istantanea tra mondi distanti decine di anni-luce in quanto sfrutta la deformazione gravitazionale dello spazio-tempo. In realtà, la formazione dell'Ecumene così definita avviene in una fase che si colloca posteriormente alla storia narrata in questo romanzo e nei due successivi Il pianeta dell'esilio e Città delle illusioni; pertanto nella letteratura fantascientifica anglosassone questa serie di romanzi dell'autrice è nota come il ciclo degli Hainiti. Головний герой книги, етнограф Гаверал Роканнон (для жителів планети — Блукач) досліджує планету, на якій місцеві володарі живуть у замках, літають на крилатих конях (які своїми звичками хижаків нагадують величезних котів), і живуть по сусідству з іншими розумними видами, частина яких на вигляд нагадують справжніх підземних гномів, а частина ельфів без крил. Таке казкове оточення в книзі знаходиться у тісному сусідстві з розвинутою цивілізацією Союзу всіх планет.
