- المقالة المراجِعة هي نوع من المقالات المنشورة التي تعمل على تلخيص مستوى التقدم الجاري لمجال معين. تحلل المقالات المراجعة في الدوريات العلمية والأكاديمية المنشورات السابقة دون أن تقدم تقريراً عن نتائج تجريبية جديدة. تعمل المقالة المراجعة على تحري وتقصي المعلومات والأبحاث الحديثة عن موضوع معين، وتسمى الدوريات الأكاديمية المتخصصة بنشر المراجعات بالدوريات المراجعة. يستفيد القراء بذلك من تلخيص الخبراء وتوضيحهم وتقييمهم للدراسات من حيث المصداقية وقابلية التطبيق. - Un artículo de revisión es un artículo que resume el estado de comprensión presente sobre un tema, es decir que es un método de investigación indirecta. Un artículo de revisión examina y resume los estudios publicados anteriormente, en lugar de informar nuevos hechos o análisis. Alternativamente se ha denominado revisión (o análisis) de la literatura Las publicaciones académicas que se especializan en artículos de revisión se conocen como revistas de revisión. Los artículos de revisión enseñan sobre:
* las principales personas que trabajan en un campo
* importantes avances y descubrimientos recientes (state of the art).
* lagunas significativas en la investigación
* debates actuales
* ideas de dónde podría ir la investigación a continuación (es)
- Un article de revue (ou « article de synthèse » ou « article de revue de littérature ») est un type particulier d'article publié dans une revue scientifique dont le principe est de dresser un état des lieux dans un domaine particulier de la recherche et de dégager les directions particulières prises dans ce domaine. Le contenu principal d'un article de revue est une revue de littérature (ou revue de la littérature), c'est-à-dire une méthode de recherche d'information scientifique structurée, réplicable et ciblée sur un sujet de recherche spécifique. Sa forme peut aller d'une certaine forme de vulgarisation jusqu'à une rédaction théorique ou technique extrêmement spécialisée. Par exemple, un article de revue peut être :
* Un examen de la portée, qui recense l'étendue d'une recherche dans un domaine;
* Une revue narrative de littérature;
* Une revue systématique, c'est-à-dire une revue de littérature très poussée et très structurée;
* Une méta-analyse, c'est-à-dire une analyse statistique d'une revue systématique. En tant qu'article à vocation éminemment scientifique, l'article de revue est soumis aux mêmes exigences que les articles plus classiques, notamment le contrôle avant publication par un comité de lecture. Il est publié également dans des revues scientifiques ou séries comme Annual review of cell and developmental biology ou Annual review of earth and planetary sciences. (fr)
- A review article is an article that summarizes the current state of understanding on a topic within a certain discipline. A review article is generally considered a secondary source since it may analyze and discuss the method and conclusions in previously published studies. It resembles a survey article or, in news publishing, overview article, which also surveys and summarizes previously published primary and secondary sources, instead of reporting new facts and results. Survey articles are however considered tertiary sources, since they do not provide additional analysis and synthesis of new conclusions. A review of such sources is often referred to as a tertiary review. Academic publications that specialize in review articles are known as review journals. Review journals have their own requirements for the review articles they accept, so review articles may vary slightly depending on the journal they are being submitted to. Review articles teach about:
* the main people working in a field
* recent major advances and discoveries
* significant gaps in the research
* current debates
* suggestions of where research might go next A meta-study summarizes a large number of already published experimental or epidemiological studies and provides statistical analysis of their result. Review articles have increased in impact and relevance alongside the increase in the amount of research that needs to be synthesised. They are a concise way of collating information for practitioners or academics that are not able to read the plethora of original research that is being published. (en)

- En litteraturöversikt (även litteraturstudie, översiktsarbete, översiktsartikel, eller bara översikt) är en vetenskaplig artikel som sammanfattar flera originalstudier eller primärkällor. Ett litteraturöversikt utgör på så sätt en sekundärkälla. Inom vetenskapen är det mycket vanligt att skriva litteraturöversikter för att sammanfatta ett forskningsfält, och det är vanligt att seniora forskare skriver litteraturöversikter. En sådan översikt kan välja fritt vad den inkluderar för källor, och behöver inte inkludera alla eller specifika studier. Systematiska översiktsarbeten (även systematisk översiktsartikel) är när man använder en systematisk metod för att försöka identifiera, värdera, välja ut och syntetisera allt högkvalitativt forskningsbevis som är relevant för den fråga som ställs. Till skillnad från översiktsartikeln finns här ett större krav att de inkluderade studierna avser en specifikt formulerad forskningsfråga, och har identifierats, valts ut och bedömts kritiskt med systematiska och tydligt beskrivna metoder. Statistiska metoder (metaanalys) används ibland för att analysera och sammanfatta resultaten av de inkluderade studierna. Cochrane är en internationell organisation som skapar systematiska översikter och som är ledande i att utveckla de metoder som används när dessa skapas. Organisationen riktar sig till alla som är intresserade av information med hög kvalitet för att ta beslut om hälsa och sjukdom. Cochrane har också en stor samling systematiska översikter i Cochrane Library som innehåller både vetenskapliga och populärvetenskapliga sammanfattningar av olika behandlingar och sjukdomstillstånd – som är öppna för alla att läsa. Epistemonikos har en stor databas som sammanställer flera systematiska översikter inom samma område och behandling. (sv)
