- Reformational philosophy of society is a neo-Calvinistic movement pioneered by Herman Dooyeweerd and D. H. Th. Vollenhoven that seeks to develop philosophical thought in a Reformed Christian direction. It is related to the idea of a political community and can be traced back to 16th-century monarchomach thinking. This school of thought had a particular influence in the Netherlands and contributed to the country being the first modern nation state. Freedom of Conscience and the fight against tyranny have a special place in the Reformational philosophy of society. (en)
- De reformatorische wijsbegeerte (ook: wijsbegeerte der wetsidee en calvinistische wijsbegeerte) is een filosofische stroming die de Bijbel als door God gegeven openbaring als gezaghebbend aanvaardt. Een van de basisgedachten van de reformatorische wijsbegeerte is dat alle wetenschap, en dus ook de wijsbegeerte, rust op bepaalde 'voorwetenschappelijke' kennis of vooronderstellingen die in wezen een religieus karakter hebben. Het idee dat wetenschap waardevrij of neutraal zou kunnen zijn, wordt verworpen. Het woord 'reformatorisch' uit het begrip 'reformatorische wijsbegeerte' duidt oorspronkelijk op de traditie van de Reformatie waarin deze stroming is ontstaan, maar wordt tegenwoordig breder uitgelegd als 'hervorming van het denken'.
