- Le Quarter pony est une race de poney de selle américaine semblable au Quarter horse. Il mesure moins d'1,47 m au garrot et a été développé à partir de Quarter horse de type Foundation. La race s'est constituée à l'origine des chevaux qui ne pouvaient répondre à la hauteur miminum du Quarter horse selon les exigences du stud-book. Il est élevé pour ressembler à un petit Quarter horse, bien que les divers bureaux d'enregistrement permettent aussi des croisements avec d'autres races, y compris le Paint horse, l'Appaloosa et le poney des Amériques, tous les types de chevaux de travail. Il existe trois bureaux d'enregistrement pour le Quarter pony, tous avec des exigences d'inscription légèrement différentes. Le premier registre a été ouvert en 1964 et les deux autres au cours des années 1970. La race est utilisée dans plusieurs disciplines d'équitation western. (fr)
- The Quarter Pony is a breed of pony that is similar to the American Quarter Horse. It stands up to 14.2 hands (58 inches, 147 cm) high and was developed from American Quarter Horse foundation bloodstock. The breed was originally developed from Quarter Horses that did not meet the American Quarter Horse Association's height requirement. It is bred to look like a small Quarter Horse, although the various registries also allow crosses with other breeds, including Paint horse, Appaloosa and Pony of the Americas, all stock types. It is one of the most versatile horse breeds there are. There are three registries for the Quarter Pony, all with slightly different registration requirements. The first registry was begun in 1964, and two more were started in the 1970s. The breed is used today in a variety of disciplines. (en)
