- Qardaha, manchmal auch Kardaha geschrieben (arabisch القرداحة, DMG al-Qardāḥa), ist eine im Gouvernement Latakia im Nordwesten Syriens gelegene Kleinstadt an den Hängen des Dschebel Ansariye. Im Ort leben überwiegend Alawiten. Qardaha liegt etwa 30 Kilometer von Latakia entfernt und ist der Heimatort des langjährigen syrischen Präsidenten Hafiz al-Assad, der 1930 in eine regional angesehene Familie von Landwirten geboren wurde. Später wurde Assad Offizier und Politiker der Baath-Partei. Bei seiner Beisetzung am 13. Juni 2000 erlebte der Ort ein beeindruckendes Staatsbegräbnis, an dem zahlreiche arabische Präsidenten und westliche Außenminister teilnahmen. In dem 1994 gebauten Mausoleum wurde auch Assads ältester Sohn Basil beigesetzt. Assads Kenotaph steht in der Mitte des Kuppelbaus, das seines Sohnes an einer Seite. Zur Zeit von Assads Geburt hatte der Ort etwa 1800 Einwohner, zu Beginn seiner Präsidentschaft 1971 waren es 3357 Einwohner. Für 2010 werden knapp 18.000 Einwohner geschätzt. Qardaha kann mit einen erfolgreichen Fußballverein aufweisen. (de)
- Qardaha (en arabe قرداحة) est une petite ville de Syrie, près de Lattaquié. Elle est le berceau de la famille el-Assad, au pouvoir dans le pays depuis le début des années 1970 (avec Hafez el-Assad qui y est né), issue de la communauté alaouite particulièrement nombreuse dans cette cité. L'aéroport international de Lattaquié se trouve à proximité sur le territoire de sa municipalité. Avec ses villages environnants, la zone atteint environ 17 000 habitants en 2009, mais la ville elle-même, à l'habitat dispersé, avec une seule rue principale, dépasse à peine les 2 000 habitants. - Qardaha (Arabic: القَرْدَاحَة / ALA-LC: Qardāḥah) is a town in northwestern Syria, in the mountains overlooking the coastal town of Latakia. Nearby localities include Kilmakho to the west, Bustan al-Basha to the southwest, Harf al-Musaytirah to the southeast and Muzayraa to the north. According to the Syrian Central Bureau of Statistics, Qardaha had a population of 8,671 in 2004. It has a predominantly Alawite population and is the traditional home of the al-Assad family, which has ruled Syria since the 1970 Corrective Movement. Syrian President Hafez al-Assad, who ruled from 1970 to 2000, was born in Qardaha. Under Assad, the government poured massive investments into Qardaha, Latakia and the surrounding region. Qardaha has many luxurious villas. A major statue of Hafez al-Assad is found in the town center, and a huge mausoleum containing the graves of Bassel al-Assad and Hafez al-Assad is also located there.
