- Maschta al-Helou (arabisch مشتى الحلو, DMG Maštā l-Ḥalū), auch Maschtal Helo oder Maschta, ist eine Kleinstadt im Gouvernement Tartus im Westen Syriens. Der als Sommerfrische ausgebaute Bergort auf 560 Metern Höhe hat etwa 3500 Einwohner, von denen ein großer Teil Christen sind. Maschta al-Helou gehört zum Distrikt von Safita und liegt in den südlichen Ausläufern des Dschebel Ansariye. Wenige Kilometer östlich des Ortes mündet die von Safita kommende Nebenstraße in die nord-südlich verlaufende Straße zwischen Masyaf und Krak des Chevaliers ein. Die Entfernung nach Damaskus beträgt ungefähr 220 Kilometer, die nach Tartus 55 Kilometer. Die Gesamtfläche von Mashta beträgt ungefähr 490 Hektar. Durch die Lage in den Bergen herrscht ein Höhenklima vor. So ist es im Sommer mäßig warm, während es im Winter kalt ist. An manchen Wintertagen kann es schneien. Die Stadt bietet ein touristisches Angebot mit mehreren Hotels und Möglichkeiten zu Wanderungen in der näheren Umgebung. (de)
- Machta al Hélou ou Machta el Hélou (مشتی الحلو) est une ville de 50 000 habitants située dans les montagnes dans l'ouest de la Syrie, appartenant au gouvernorat de Tartous. La majorité des habitants sont de confession chrétienne orthodoxe et appartiennent à l'église grecque orthodoxe d'Antioche, avec deux églises dans la ville. Aujourd'hui, les deux tiers de la population vivent en dehors de la ville, surtout à l'étranger en Europe occidentale ou en Amérique. Sites remarquables à Machta al Helou et les alentours:

- Mashta al-Helu (Arabic: مشتى الحلو, also known as Meshta al-Helu or Mashta al-Helo) is a town and resort in northwestern Syria, administratively part of the Tartus Governorate, located 35 kilometers east of Tartus. The village is located in a green wooded area amid the An-Nusayriyah Mountains, the Syrian coastal mountain range. Nearby localities include Kafrun to the west, and al-Bariqiyah to the southwest, Habnamrah and Marmarita to the south, to the southeast, Kafr Ram to the east, Ayn Halaqim to the northeast, Ayn al-Shams to the north and Duraykish to the northwest. According to the Syria Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Mashta al-Helu had a population of 2,458 in the 2004 census. It is the administrative center of the Mashta al-Helu nahiyah ("sub-district") of the Safita District which contained 19 localities with a collective population of 12,577 in 2004. Its inhabitants are predominantly Christians. The town has an elevation of 465 meters above sea level. Prior to the Baathist takeover of the country in the 1960s, Mashta al-Helu was one of a few villages in the coastal mountain region that was electrified and connected to a grid. (en)
