- Der Bahnhof Potsdam Pirschheide, eröffnet 1958 als Bahnhof Potsdam Süd, war von 1961 bis 1993 der Hauptbahnhof von Potsdam und nach dem Bahnhof Flughafen Berlin-Schönefeld die wichtigste Station des Berliner Außenrings. Obwohl die Bahnstation fernab vom Stadtzentrum am Rande der Pirschheide im Südwesten des Stadtgebietes liegt, konnte sie zu ihrer Blütezeit als Hauptbahnhof Fahrgastzahlen in großer Höhe aufweisen und stieß oft an ihre Kapazitätsgrenzen. Mit der Wiedervereinigung verlor der Bahnhof jedoch rapide an Bedeutung und wurde bis auf ein Bahnsteiggleis im unteren Bahnhofsteil fast vollständig stillgelegt. Die erhaltenen Bauten des Bahnhofs stehen unter Denkmalschutz. (de)
- Potsdam Pirschheide station is a station on the Berlin outer ring. It was opened in 1958 as Potsdam Süd (south) station and was called Potsdam Hauptbahnhof (main station) from 1961 to 1993. In this period it was the most important station on the outer ring after Berlin Schönefeld Flughafen station. Although the station is far from the centre of Potsdam on the Pirschheide (Pirsch heath) to the southwest of the town, in its heyday as the main station it had substantial passenger traffic and often reached its capacity limit. With the reunification, however, the station rapidly lost importance and was almost completely closed except for a single platform in the lower part of the station. It is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 6 station. (en)

Chociaż stacja kolejowa znajduje się daleko od centrum miasta, na skraju Pirschheide w południowo-zachodniej części obszaru miejskiego, w czasach swojej świetności jako główna stacja kolejowa mogła pochwalić się dużą liczbą pasażerów i często osiągała ograniczenia przepustowości. Jednak wraz ze zjednoczeniem stacja szybko straciła na znaczeniu i została prawie całkowicie zamknięta, z wyjątkiem toru peronowego w dolnej części stacji.
