- Der Porsche 911 RSR und dessen Vorgänger GT3 RSR, GT3 RS und GT3 R sind GT-Rennwagen von Porsche, die im Motorsport für Langstreckenrennen eingesetzt werden. Sie sind aufgebaut nach der aktuell höchsten Klasse im weltweiten GT-Sport, der GTE-Klasse vom ACO. Dieses Reglement führt zurück auf das Konzept einer GT3-Klasse unterhalb der damaligen Gruppe GT1 und Gruppe GT2 aus dem Jahr 1998. Nach der Einstellung der GT1-Klasse wurde die geplante GT3-Klasse ab 1999 beim ACO als GT-Klasse unterhalb der GTS, sowie von der FIA ab 2000 als N-GT ausgeschrieben. Nach den Angleichungen der GT-Regeln zwischen FIA und ACO im Jahr 2005 wurde diese Klasse in GT2-Klasse umbenannt. Als die GT2-Europameisterschaft der FIA scheiterte und die Teilnehmer der GT1-Klasse beim 24-Stunden-Rennen von Le Mans schwanden, benannte der ACO 2011 die GT2-Klasse in GTE um und unterteilte diese in GTE-Pro für Profis und GTE-AM für Amateure. In all den Jahren war Porsche kontinuierlich mit unterschiedlichen Baureihen des 911 in dieser Klasse vertreten. Daneben diente der Porsche 911 auch als Basis für die höheren Klassen mit dem Porsche 911 GT1 und Porsche 911 GT2. Seit 2006 ist Porsche mit dem Porsche 911 GT3 R in der neu formierten GT3-Klasse vertreten, die im Gegensatz zum Werkssport der GTE-Klasse für den Kundensport ausgerichtet ist und auf dem Markenpokalfahrzeug des Carrera- und Supercup basiert. Die Motorsportwagen werden gemeinsam mit allen weiteren Motorsportwagen von Porsche in der Manufaktur des Motorsportzentrums in Weissach gebaut. (de)
- The Porsche 911 RSR and its predecessor GT3 RSR, GT3 RS and GT3 R are a line of GT racing cars produced by Porsche that are used in motorsport for endurance races. They are based on the currently highest class in GT racing worldwide, the GTE class from ACO. These regulations lead back to the concept of a GT3 class below the then Group GT1 and GT2 from 1998. After the discontinuation of the GT1 class, the planned GT3 class was from 1999 at the ACO as a GT class below the GTS, as well advertised by the FIA from 2000 as N-GT. After the alignment of the GT rules between FIA and ACO in 2005, this class was renamed GT2 class. When the FIA's GT2 European Championship failed and the participants in the GT1 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans dwindled, the ACO renamed the GT2 class GTE in 2011 and divided it into GTE-Pro for professionals and GTE-AM for amateurs. Over the years, Porsche was continuously represented in this class with different series of the 911. In addition, the Porsche 911 also served as the basis for the higher classes with the Porsche 911 GT1 and Porsche 911 GT2. Since 2006, Porsche has been represented in the newly formed GT3 class with the Porsche 911 GT3 R, which, in contrast to the factory sport of the GTE class, is geared towards customer racing and is based on the one-make cup vehicle of the Carrera and Supercup.
