- Plukenetia conophora ist ein kletternder Strauch oder eine Liane aus der Familie der Wolfsmilchgewächse, aus der Unterfamilie der Acalyphoideae, im Tribus der Plukenetieae, im Subtribus der Plukenetiinae. Sie stammt aus dem tropischen West- und Zentralafrika und wird als Ölpflanze genutzt. Sehr ähnlich ist Plukenetia volubilis, bekannt als Sacha Inchi oder Inka-Nuss, aus Südamerika, sie besitzt aber linsenförmige, abgeflachte Samen. Sehr ähnliche rundliche Samen besitzt Coula edulis, die ebenfalls in Westafrika vorkommt. Die rundlichen und ähnlichen Samen von Plukenetia conophora und Coula edulis werden auch als Afrikanische Walnüsse bezeichnet. (de)
- Plukenetia conophora, también llamada nuez de Nigeria y conofor, es un arbusto trepador del género Plukenetia. No se encuentra relacionada con el nogal, solo que su fruto se denomina nuez por su similitud externa con el fruto del nogal. Es nativa de las zonas tropicales del oeste y centro de África desde Togo hasta Congo y en Sierra Leona. Abunda en Nigeria, Camerún, República del Congo y República Democrática del Congo. Prefiere zonas de media sombra en la selva húmeda; arbustos bajos; bosques secundarios; plantaciones en elevaciones entre los 200 y 1400 msnm. Si bien se sabe de su existencia en Sierra Leona, aparentemente no es nativa de Sierra Leona, ya que no existen registros de su presencia en Liberia y Ghana. Su presencia en Sierra Leona se debe a esclavos que han regresado ya que es conocida entre los por su nombre yoruba (nigeriano). Plukenetia conophora es la única especie de Plukenetia nativa del Oeste de África o África Central. Otras especie de Plukenetia son nativas de otras partes de África, el subcontinente indio, sureste de Asia, y América. (es)

It is not related to the walnut, being so named because its nuts bear a superficial resemblance to the walnut. It is native to tropical western and central Africa from Togo to Congo and in Sierra Leone. It is abundant in the Nigeria, Cameroon, Republic of the Congo and Democratic Republic of Congo. It prefers rain-forest hedge in half-shady places; low bush; secondary forest; plantations at elevations from 250–1,400 m (820–4,590 ft). Although it is well recorded in Sierra Leone, it is apparently not indigenous to Sierra Leone, since it is not recorded in Liberia and Ghana. Its presence in Sierra Leone is due to returning slaves for it is known to the Krio by its Yoruba (Nigerian) name. Plukenetia conophora is the only Plukenetia species native to West Africa or Central Africa. Other Plukenetia species are indigenous to other parts of Africa, the Indian Subcontinent, Southeast Asia, and America. (en)
