- Paul Bernard Cliteur (born 6 September 1955) is a Dutch professor of jurisprudence at Leiden University, as well as a politician, philosopher, writer, publicist and columnist. He is known for his conservative perspective, his atheism, his republicanism, and his dislike of Islam. He is a member of De Vrije Gedachte. Since 2015, Cliteur is a member of the Dutch political party Forum voor Democratie, where he is chairman of the advisory board and the party's official think tank. In 2019 he was elected to be parliamentary group leader for Forum voor Democratie in the Dutch Senate. Cliteur has also been on the board of several organisations, including supervisor of the (think tank of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy), and from 1993 until 1995 chair of the Humanist League (Humanistisch Verbond). - Paul Bernard Cliteur (Amsterdam, 6 september 1955) is een Nederlands jurist en filosoof. Hij werkt als columnist en publicist. Hij staat bekend om zijn rechts-liberale inslag, zijn atheïsme, republicanisme en inzet voor dierenrechten. Cliteur is ook bestuurlijk en politiek actief. Zo was hij curator van de Teldersstichting, het wetenschappelijk bureau van de VVD, en van 1993 tot 1995 voorzitter van het Humanistisch Verbond. In 2001 was hij ambassadeur van de Stichting Varkens in Nood. Sinds 2015 is Cliteur verbonden aan de partij Forum voor Democratie, waar hij onder andere voorzitter is geweest van het wetenschappelijk bureau en de Raad van Advies. Tijdens de Tweede Kamerverkiezingen 2017 was hij lijstduwer en van 2019 tot 2020 was Cliteur fractievoorzitter in de Eerste Kamer. In 2020 werd Cliteur benoemd tot vicefractievoorzitter in de Eerste Kamer. Op 25 november 2020 trad Cliteur af als lid van de Eerste Kamer; hij bleef wel lid van zijn partij. (nl)
