- عملية شموني ((بالعبرية: מִבְצָע שְׁמוֹנֶה)، ميفتسا شموني) كانت عملية عسكرية إسرائيلية ضد حصن الشرطة في عراق سويدان الخاضع للسيطرة المصرية في الحرب العربية الإسرائيلية 1948. المعركة دارت بين قوات الدفاع الإسرائيلية والجيش المصري في 9 نوفمبر 1948 وانتهت بنصر إسرائيلي بعد محاولات إسرائيلية عديدة سابقة للاستيلاء على الحصن اثنين منهم في عملية يواف قبل أسابيع. هاجم اللواءين الثامن و الإسرائيلين الحصن في وضح النهار بعد موجة مدفع ثقيلة. وبعد تفجير حفرة عبر جدار الحصن استسلمت القوات المصرية. وأدى الاستيلاء على الحصن إلى إخلاء المصريين لمنطقة بيت عفا وغيرها من المواقع القريبة مما قلل من محاصرة جيب الفلوجة المحاصر إلى قريتي الفالوجة وعراق المنشية. - La operación Shmone (en hebreo, מִבְצָע שְׁמוֹנֶה, trans. Mivtzá Shmone, lit. Operación Ocho) fue una operación militar israelí llevada a cabo en contra del fuerte de policía de Irak Suwaydan, ocupado por los egipcios, en la guerra árabe-israelí de 1948. La batalla se libró entre las Fuerzas de Defensa de Israel y el ejército egipcio el 9 de noviembre de 1948, y terminó en una victoria israelí, tras numerosos intentos israelíes previos de capturar el fuerte, dos de ellos en la Operación Yoav apenas unas semanas antes. Las brigadas israelíes Guivati y 8ª atacaron la fortaleza en plena luz del día después de una descarga de artillería pesada. Después de una explosión, que creó un agujero a través de la pared de la fortaleza, las fuerzas egipcias se rindieron. La captura del fuerte llevó a la evacuación egipcia de Bayt 'Affa y otras posiciones cercanas, reduciendo la asediada bolsa de Faluya a los pueblos de Faluya e Irak al-Manshiyya. (es)
- Operation Shmone (Hebrew: מִבְצָע שְׁמוֹנֶה, Mivtza Shmone, lit. Eight) was an Israeli military operation conducted against the Egyptian-held police fort of Iraq Suwaydan in the 1948 Arab–Israeli War. The battle was fought between the Israel Defense Forces and the Egyptian Army on 9 November 1948, and ended in an Israeli victory, following numerous previous Israeli attempts to capture the fort, two of them in Operation Yoav just weeks before. The Israeli 8th and Givati brigades attacked the fort in broad daylight following a heavy artillery barrage. After a hole was blown through the wall of the fort, the Egyptian forces surrendered. The capture of the fort led to the Egyptian evacuation of Bayt 'Affa and other nearby positions, reducing the besieged Fallujah Pocket to the villages of Fallujah and Iraq al-Manshiyya. (en)

- At 18:30 this evening, the Iraq Suwaydan police fort was captured by Egyptian forces, in cooperation with a number of armed villagers. The British army made secret preparations for their departure from the police fort, and signalled the end of their preparations to the Arabs by lighting a fire bomb. After the signal, the garage doors opened and several dozens of military vehicles left the building in the direction of al-Majdal. At that moment, some 40 Egyptians slipped from the nearby hill into the building and seized positions within. (en)
