- La recerca oberta és aquella que es duu a terme seguint l'esperit del programari lliure i de codi obert. De manera similar als projectes de codi obert, construïts al voltant d'un codi font que es fa públic, el punt central de la recerca oberta és deixar clara la metodologia i oferir-ne l'accés lliure a través d'internet, juntament amb qualsevol dada o resultat que se n'extregui o se'n derivi. Això permet una col·laboració massiva i distribuïda, on a més tothom pot participar a qualsevol nivell del projecte. Si la recerca és de naturalesa científica, se l'anomena sovint ciència oberta. La recerca oberta també pot incloure les ciències socials, les humanitats, les matemàtiques, l'enginyeria i la medicina. (ca)
- Open research is research that is openly accessible and modifiable by others. The central theme of open research is to make clear accounts of research methods freely available via the internet, along with any data or results extracted or derived from them, in order to support reproducibility and, potentially, massively distributed research collaboration. In this regard it is related to both open source software and citizen science. Especially for research that scientific in nature, open research may be referred to as open science. However, open research can also include social sciences, the humanities, mathematics, engineering and medicine. (en)
