- No Orchids for Miss Blandish is a 1939 crime novel by the British writer James Hadley Chase. It was a critical and commercial success upon release, though it also provoked considerable controversy due to its explicit depiction of sexuality and violence. In 1942, the novel was adapted into a stage play and in 1948 it became a British film. The novel became particularly popular with British servicemen during World War II. The 1948 novel The Flesh of the Orchid by the same author is a sequel to No Orchids for Miss Blandish. (en)
- Pas d'orchidées pour miss Blandish (No Orchids for Miss Blandish) est le premier roman policier britannique de James Hadley Chase, écrit en l'espace de six weekends et publié en 1939. Ce roman a été réécrit et remanié en 1962 par l'auteur qui considérait la première version décrivant le monde de 1938 comme trop dépassée pour la nouvelle génération de lecteurs. C'est cette nouvelle édition, parue en France sous le titre Pas d'orchidées, qui est depuis disponible en librairie. En 1948, James Hadley Chase écrivit une suite à la première version du roman : La Chair de l'orchidée. Le roman est adapté au cinéma en 1971 par le réalisateur américain Robert Aldrich. (fr)
- Niente orchidee per Miss Blandish (titolo originale in inglese No Orchids for Miss Blandish) è un romanzo giallo di stile hard boiled dello scrittore britannico James Hadley Chase, pubblicato nel 1939, in Italia nel 1950 dall'Istituto Editoriale Italiano. Il libro narra la storia del rapimento di una facoltosa ragazza da parte di una brutale banda di gangster, e delle successive indagini per ritrovarla. Il successo del romanzo ha portato a due adattamenti cinematografici. Il primo, inglese, è del 1948 e mantiene lo stesso titolo dell'opera letteraria, diretto da John Legh Clowes. Il secondo adattamento, intitolato Grissom Gang (Niente orchidee per Miss Blandish), è del 1971 per la regia di Robert Aldrich, con Kim Darby, Scott Wilson e Tony Musante. (it)
