- Nad Němnem (polsky Nad Niemnem) je pozitivistický román Elizy Orzeszkové.Představuje život polské společnosti 19. století do lednového povstání. Román poprvé vycházel v časopise od ledna do prosince roku 1887. V knižní podobě román vyšel roku 1888. Autorka měla v plánu ohraničit fabuli díla pouze na manželství mezi mladou dívkou z vyšších sfér a mužem, jenž pochází ze šlechtického rodu. Časem však pozadí díla začalo být čím dál bohatější a autorka se vzdala původního titulu románu Mezalians. V roce 1886 intenzivně pracovala s textem převážně v domě v , nedaleko vsi Bohatyrowicze. Svatba Elżuni ve třetím svazku románu je inspirována skutečnou svatbou, na které Orzeszková byla jedním z hostů. Děj románu se odehrává mezi červnem a srpnem roku 1886. (cs)
- Nad Niemnem is a Positivist novel written by Eliza Orzeszkowa in 1888 during the foreign Partitions of Poland. Its main purpose was to present the Polish society and its own internal dynamics as they were in mid–19th century, in reference to the Polish January Uprising against the Russian occupation. The novel first appeared in installments on the pages of Tygodnik Ilustrowany in 1887 and was published as a book in 1888. In 2014 it was translated into English as On the Niemen by Michelle Granas. First the author planned to limit the plot to a love story between Jan, a villager from the petty nobility, and Justyna, who comes from a wealthy landed gentry family. However, while writing, the background relating to customs started to develop which made Orzeszkowa give up the original title: Misalliance. Nad Niemnem is set in and around the city of Grodno after the 1863 January Uprising. At the time, the area had a considerable Polish population. The title means "Upon the Niemen" – the Niemen being a river now situated in modern Belarus and Lithuania. (en)

Trzytomowy utwór przedstawia panoramę polskiego społeczeństwa drugiej połowy XIX wieku, nawiązując również do czasów powstania styczniowego. Powieść publikowano po raz pierwszy w odcinkach na łamach „Tygodnika Ilustrowanego” od stycznia do grudnia 1887. W postaci książkowej Nad Niemnem ukazało się w edycji warszawskiego Gebethnera i Wolffa w roku następnym. Stanisław Brzozowski nazwał Orzeszkową „młodszą siostrą Mickiewicza”. Popularność powieści przekroczyła oczekiwania autorki, ale spowodowała też zainteresowanie cenzury, o ile pierwsze wydania przeszły bez zastrzeżeń, o tyle planowane czwarte, w 1890 roku, zostało wstrzymane.
