- Jmenuji se Ašer Lev (v anglickém originále My Name Is Asher Lev) je třetí a společně s románem patrně také nejznámější román amerického židovského spisovatele Chaima Potoka z roku 1972. Díky úspěchu knihy napsal autor pokračování s názvem (The Gift of Asher Lev), které vyšlo v roce 1990. Kniha vyšla i v češtině v nakladatelství Argo v roce 1996. (cs)
- Je m'appelle Asher Lev est un roman de Chaïm Potok, écrivain et rabbin américain, publié le 12 mars 1972. Le protagoniste du livre est Asher Lev, un garçon juif hassidique habitant New York. Asher, solitaire, a des inclinations artistiques : son art provoque des conflits avec sa famille et d'autres membres de sa communauté. Ce livre suit la maturité d'Asher en tant qu'artiste et en tant que juif. Chaïm Potok affirme que le conflit entre tradition et individualisme est constant et la tension entre religion et art, permanente. En plus d'être écrivain, Chaïm Potok est peintre, et sa lutte personnelle est apparente dans sa peinture intitulée Brooklyn Crucifixion. Malgré cette lutte, Chaïm Potok reste à la fois peintre et écrivain et engagé dans la religion de son éducation jusqu'à sa mort en 2002. - My Name Is Asher Lev is a novel by Chaim Potok, an American author and rabbi. The book's protagonist is Asher Lev, a Hasidic Jewish boy in New York City. Asher is a loner with artistic inclinations. His art, however, causes conflicts with his family and other members of his community. The book follows Asher's maturity as both an artist and a Jew. Potok asserted that the conflict between tradition and individualism is constant and that the tension between religion and art is lifelong. Potok was, as well as an author, a painter, and his personal struggle is apparent in his painting titled "Brooklyn Crucifixion." And yet despite this seemingly agonizing struggle, Potok remained active as an artist/writer and engaged in the religion of his upbringing until his death in 2002. Potok continued Asher Lev's story in the book The Gift of Asher Lev. (en)
