- كأس العالم هي أهم مسابقة لرياضة كرة القدم للرجال تقام تحت إشراف الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم. وتقام بطولة كأس العالم كل أربع سنوات منذ عام 1930م، ما عدا بطولتي عام 1942و 1946 اللتين ألغيتا بسبب الحرب العالمية الثانية. تتكون البطولة من مرحلين، مرحلة التصفيات والمرحلة الأخيرة (تسمى رسميا نهائيات كأس العالم). يشارك الآن بالبطولة 32 منتخبا، ويعتبر النهائي فيها من أكثر المباريات مشاهدة في العالم، حيث وصل عدد مشاهدي نهائي دورة 2006 715.1 مليون شخص. تأهل المغرب إلى المراحل النهائية من كأس العالم في خمس مناسبات سابقة. وقد حسم التأهل للمرة السادسة بالفوز 4–1 على جمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية في مباراة الإياب في 29 مارس 2022، بعدما تعادلا 1–1 في مباراة الذهاب. - The FIFA World Cup, often simply called the World Cup, is an international association football competition contested by the men's national teams of the members of Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the sport's global governing body. The championship has been awarded every four years since the first tournament in 1930, except in 1942 and 1946, due to World War II. The tournament consists of two parts, the qualification phase and the final phase (officially called the World Cup Finals). The qualification phase, which currently takes place over the three years preceding the Finals, is used to determine which teams qualify for the Finals. The current format of the Finals involves 32 teams competing for the title, at venues within the host nation (or nations) over a period of about a month. The World Cup Finals is the most widely viewed sporting event in the world, with an estimated 715.1 million people watching the 2006 tournament final. Morocco have qualified for the final stages of the FIFA World Cup on six occasions, which were in 1970, 1986, 1994, 1998, 2018 and 2022. Their best performance is in the 2022 World Cup where they have so far reached the quarter-finals. On December 6 2022, Morocco defeated Spain to claim a spot at the quater-finals in Qatar. The victory makes Morocco the fourth African team to get the World Cup quarter-finals after Cameroon (1990), Senegal (2002), and Ghana 2010. (en)
