- Die Mk 44 Bushmaster II ist ein Abkömmling der einläufigen M242-Bushmaster-Chain-Gun-Maschinenkanone.Die Mk 44 besitzt 70 % der Teile der M242. Der Hauptunterschied ist das Kaliber, welches von 25 mm auf 30 mm erhöht wurde. Das Innere des Rohres ist zur Erhöhung der Lebensdauer chrombeschichtet. Eine interessante Eigenschaft der Waffe ist die Möglichkeit, sie durch den Austausch von wenigen Komponenten für die Benutzung eines anderen Kalibers umzurüsten. Dadurch können mit ihr auch die 30 × 170-mm-RARDEN-Patrone sowie die Super-40-Patrone verschossen werden. Bei der Super 40 handelt es sich um eine Patrone mit denselben Außenabmessungen wie die etablierte 30 × 173-mm-Munition, wobei das Geschoss und der Hülsenhals auf 40 mm vergrößert wurden. (de)
- The Mk44 Bushmaster II is a 30 mm chain gun manufactured by Northrop Grumman. It is a derivative of the 25 mm M242 Bushmaster, and uses 70% of the same parts as the M242 while increasing the firepower by as much as 50% with the 20% increase in caliber size. The barrel is chromium-plated for extended life. The gun uses standard GAU-8 Avenger ammunition that is available in API (Armor-Piercing Incendiary), HEI (High-Explosive Incendiary) and APFSDS-T (Armor-Piercing Fin-Stabilized Discarding Sabot-Tracer) variants.The gun can be converted to a caliber of 40x180 mm, which involves changing the barrel and a few key parts, to use the SuperShot 40 cartridge. - Il Mk 44 Bushmaster II è un cannone automatico tipo chain gun derivante dal precedente cannone automatico M242 Bushmaster del quale condivide il 70% delle parti. La differenza principale è il calibro, che è stato incrementato da 25 mm a 30 mm, con l'interno del tubo cromato per aumentare la durata. Una caratteristica interessante dell'arma è la capacità di potere utilizzare un calibro diverso sostituendo alcuni componenti, per cui anche la cartuccia da 30×170 mm e la cartuccia Super 40 possono essere sparati con esso. Il Super 40 è una cartuccia con le stesse dimensioni esterne della munizione da 30 × 173 mm, con il proiettile e il collo del manicotto aumentato a 40 millimetri. L'arma costituisce l'equipaggiamento standard del CV-90 delle forze armate finlandesi, norvegesi e svizzere, nonché del polacco KTO Rosomak.
