Before Mickey became the Tyrone Senior Football Manager he managed Tyrone Under 18's and Under 21's and won the All-Ireland with both these teams. He subsequently managed his home club of Errigal Ciarán and was successful with this team as well, winning the Tyrone County Championship and Ulster Championship. Harte is well known around his county and country as one of the most shrewd and cunning tacticians in the game today, and is particularly admired by former Armagh manager, Joe Kernan., and the former Derry All-Ireland winner, and television pundit, Joe Brolly. Mickey Harte is also a member of the Pioneer Total Abstinence Association, a Catholic group that refrains from consuming intoxicating substances. His occupation is as a Technical Director with SporttrackerjobsOn the morning of October 7 2008 he sustained injuries after the car he was travelling in went 'off the road' on the Whitebridge Road near Carrickmore.
