- La Suède a participé au Concours Eurovision de la chanson 1965 à Naples, en Italie. C'est la 7e participation de la Suède au Concours Eurovision de la chanson, après s'être retiré du concours en 1964. Le pays est représenté par le chanteur Ingvar Wixell, sélectionné en interne, et la chanson Absent Friend, sélectionnée par Sveriges Radio (SR) au moyen d'une finale nationale. (fr)
- After a year of absence, Sweden competed in the Eurovision Song Contest 1965 with the opera singer Ingvar Wixell, and the song "Absent Friend" (originally "Annorstädes vals") composed by Dag Wirén. For the first time, one singer sang all the songs in the national final, and Ingvar was also the first male singer to represent Sweden. It was the first ESC entry that was not performed in the country's native language; this led to the introduction of a language restriction the following year.The contest was held in Naples that year, and Sweden finished 10th out of 18.* (en)
- Melodifestivalen 1965 (destijds bekend als Svensk sångfinal) was de zesde editie van de liedjeswedstrijd die de Zweedse deelnemer voor het Eurovisiesongfestival oplevert. De winnaar werd bepaald door de regionale jury. Door een staking van de artiesten vond in 1964 geen wedstrijd plaats. Ingvar Wixell werd aangeduid om naar Napels af te reizen voor zijn land. Hij kreeg 8 liedjes toegewezen waarvan hij er twee afwees. Op het songfestival zong hij het lied Annostädes vals in het Engels Absent friends. Er was helemaal geen regel dat een land in de eigen taal moest zingen maar tot dusver had wel elk land dat al gedaan. Hierna werd de regel wel aangepast. (nl)
