- مي المر (1929 - 29 مارس 2008) مؤرخة لبنانية ، كاتبة، شاعرة وناشطة سياسية، أسست وترأست العديد من الجمعيات الثقافية والاجتماعية. وشغلت منصب رئيس أكاديمية الفكر اللبناني، وكان عضوا مؤسسا في حزب حراس الأرز. المر تُدرّس مواضيع مختلفة في عدة جامعات ومؤسسات مثل الجامعة اللبنانية والمدرسة الحربية اللبنانية، كتدريس الرياضيات، والأدب، والتاريخ، تاريخ الفن والجغرافيا. وهي أخت النائب ميشال المر. - May Murr, sometimes written as Mayy Murr (Arabic: مي المر) (1929–2008) was a Lebanese professor, historian, writer, poet, and political activist. Before taking up writing, May Murr taught several subjects at several universities and institutions in Lebanon such as the Lebanese University and the Lebanese Army Military Academy, in which she taught mathematics, literature, history, history of art and geography. She began professionally writing and publishing her works in 1967, as well as founding and presiding over many cultural and social associations. She was a member of the Société des Gens de Lettres de France and of the Société Teilhard de Chardin, headquartered in Belgium, the Academy of American Poets, and a Distinguished Member of the New York-based . She was also the President of the Academy of Lebanese Thought and was a founding member of the ultranationalist political party the Guardians of the Cedars. She figures among the women poets in the Anthologie de la Poésie Féminine Mondiale. Many international critics have praised her poetry. Jean Cayrol wrote to her: 'May Murr, you are filled with poetry to infinity', while Lebanese poet Said Akl wrote, in 1967, an article entitled 'A woman invades the conscience of Lebanon': May Murr in 'Elissa', a Lebanese Shakespeare, has imposed herself as the creator of the Lebanese drama and a giant among giants... Whole volumes can be written about May Murr's art... May Murr is one of the authors who can create something new with the strangeness of a unique treatment; and in the domain of beauty, she creates wonders. Zij was Grieks-orthodox en Libanees nationaliste, en beschouwde zichzelf zoals vele Libanese intellectuelen uit haar tijd niet als Arabisch. Zij stichtte en leidde meerdere culturele en maatschappelijke organisaties. Zij was lid van de Société des Gens de Lettres de France en van de Société Teilhard de Chardin, gevestigd in België. Zij was ook presidente van de Academie voor Libanees Denken en was medeoprichtster van de Libanees-nationalistische Ḥurrās al-Arz. Zij gaf les in verschillende vakken op verscheidene universiteiten en instituten zoals de en de Libanese Militaire School, waar zij lesgaf in wiskunde, literatuur, geschiedenis, kunstgeschiedenis en aardrijkskunde. Zij was ook de zus van de Libanese politicus Michel Murr. Zij was een van de dichters van de Anthologie de la Poésie Féminine Mondiale. Zij kreeg veel internationale waardering. De Franse dichter en oud-verzetsstrijder zei eens tegen haar "May Murr, jij hebt een onuitputtelijke poëzie in je". Said Akl, een Libanees intellectueel en nationalist, schreef in 1967 een artikel getiteld "Een vrouw valt het geweten van Libanon binnen": Met May Murrs werk 'Elissa', een Libanese Shakespeare, heeft zij haarzelf bewezen als de stichtster van het Libanese drama en een gigant onder de giganten... Veel kan over haar kunst geschreven worden...
