- Marcin Koszałka (born 30 December 1970) is a Polish cinematographer and film director. In 1995 he began his studies in Cinematography and Photography at the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School in Katowice., from which he graduated in 2001. In 2014 for his work entitled "Obsession with death in images of my documentaries" he obtained a doctorate degree in film studies and is now a lecturer in this university. He is the author of cinematography for many significant works of contemporary Polish cinema and a member of the Polish and European Film Academy . He is also a director of documentaries and feature films, for which he writes scripts and is involved in the editing process. His auteur films have a unique style and often touch on issues close to his heart. His cinematography in films of his colleagues is characterized by maturity and elegance that are visible in each shot and by his artistic attention to detail. It is no coincidence that most prominent authors of Polish cinema want to collaborate with him. (en)
- Marcin Włodzimierz Koszałka (ur. 30 grudnia 1970 w Krakowie) – polski operator i reżyser filmowy, doktor habilitowany sztuk filmowych, absolwent i wykładowca Szkoły Filmowej im. Krzysztofa Kieślowskiego Uniwersytetu Śląskiego, członek Polskiej Akademii Filmowej i Europejskiej Akademii Filmowej. Z wykształcenia jest operatorem filmowym. Zrealizował zdjęcia do szeregu produkcji. Dwukrotnie był laureatem nagrody za najlepsze zdjęcia na Festiwalu Polskich Filmów Fabularnych w Gdyni – za Pręgi (2004) i Rewers (2009). Już wcześniej zdobył uznanie jako dokumentalista. Po skandalizującym debiucie Takiego pięknego syna urodziłam (1999), nagrodzonym na Krakowskim Festiwalu Filmowym, zrealizował m.in. Istnienie (2007) i Deklarację nieśmiertelności (2010). Jako reżyser filmu fabularnego Koszałka zadebiutował thrillerem Czerwony pająk (2015), zakwalifikowanym do konkursu Międzynarodowego Festiwalu Filmowego w Karlowych Warach. Marcina Koszałkę wymienia się jako jednego z najważniejszych polskich twórców filmu dokumentalnego swojego pokolenia. Twórczość Koszałki dotyka spraw osobistych, bliskich reżyserowi. Autor pisze scenariusze swoich filmów oraz współuczestniczy w montażu. Jego dokumenty, podejmujące problematykę m.in. śmierci i przemijania, były wielokrotnie nagradzane na międzynarodowych festiwalach. (pl)
