- Living with War je dvacátéosmé studiové album kanadského hudebníka Neila Younga, vydané v roce 2006 u vydavatelství Reprise Records. Poprvé bylo představeno dne 2. května 2006 a to pouze v internetové formě; 8. května pak byl zahájen jeho prodej v malých amerických obchodech a o den později pak na celém světě. Jde o konceptuální album věnující se kritice George W. Bushe a jeho zákrokům ve válce v Iráku. Nahráno bylo během devíti dnů v březnu a dubnu 2006. Původní verze alba obsahující jednodušší mixy písní vyšla v listopadu 2006 pod názvem . Album bylo ve třech kategoriích nominováno na cenu Grammy. (cs)
- Living with War —en español: Viviendo con guerra— es el vigésimo noveno álbum de estudio del músico canadiense Neil Young, publicado por la compañía discográfica Reprise Records en mayo de 2006. La temática, el estilo conceptual y las letras del álbum son una crítica de la política exterior de George W. Bush y de su conducta con la guerra de Irak. Compuesto y grabado en apenas nueve días entre marzo y abril de 2006 con la colaboración del bajista Rick Rosas y el batería Chad Cromwell, las letras reflejan el mismo estilo de artistas folk de la década de 1960 como Phil Ochs y Bob Dylan, aunque el propio Young lo definió como "música protesta metal folk". La sección rítmica integrada por Rosas y Cromwell, así como el productor Niko Bolas, fueron también el núcleo del álbum de 1989 Freedom, donde el músico también fue crítico con políticas de Ronald Reagan y de George H.W. Bush. Tras su publicación, Living with War polarizó la opinión política de sus seguidores, un hecho que se reflejó en la gira Freedom of Speech Tour '06 con Crosby, Stills & Nash y en el documental CSNY Déjà Vu, y obtuvo reseñas muy dispares, algunas de ellas criticando el contenido político de las canciones y otras elogiando la franqueza del músico, la espontaneidad del álbum y la necesidad de voces populares críticas con la política exterior de Bush. Può considerarsi una sorta di concept album tematico contro la guerra, il titolo deriva dall'incertezza in cui vive la società in questi ultimi anni, come in una guerra permanente. Tutte le canzoni hanno riferimenti polemici contro l'amministrazione americana dell'allora presidente Bush, ciò si nota specialmente in Let's Impeach the President dove sono inserite parti registrate dei suoi discorsi. Ci sono parole ricorrenti come mission accomplished o beautiful America, secondo Young le colpe del governo di Bush sono state quelle di aver mentito e sfruttato la situazione di paura creatasi dopo l'11 settembre per interessi personali. Lookin' For a Leader si riferisce alla ricerca di una vera guida per il paese, sia anche una donna o un uomo di colore (con particolare riferimento a Barack Obama, all'epoca l'unico senatore di colore presente nel congresso degli Stati Uniti e poi diventato presidente). Shock and Awe è il nome dell'operazione militare condotta dagli americani e i loro alleati in Iraq nel 2003.Families e Flags of Freedom parlano appunto dei soldati morti in Iraq e delle loro famiglie. Lo stile dell'album, sicuramente il più marcato politicamente dell'artista, è stato paragonato alla sua vecchia canzone Ohio o ancora alle protest-song del Dylan giovanile, come è chiaro in un verso di Flags of Freedom: Listenin' to Bob Dylan singin' in 1963. America the Beautiful è un canto patriottico statunitense e qui è cantato da un coro di 100 voci, però senza quella di Young: è la chiusura tragicamente ironica di tutto il senso del disco. (it)
