- The Liberal Alternative (French: Alternative Libérale or AL) was a French political party created on March 1, 2006. The party advocates for classical liberalism and libertarianism and against socialism and conservatism. Therefore their political colour is purple, between the red of the left-wing and the blue of the right-wing. It advocates stronger powers given to the Parliament and a separation from the Prime Minister; favouring a presidential/congressional system as opposed to a strict parliamentary system. It emphasizes a more political, rather than economic, role in the European Union (EU) to promote civil liberties and liberalism as the basis of the EU Constitution. Some members of Liberté chérie, a classical liberal association, took part in the creation of the Liberal Alternative, including Édouard Fillias, founder of Liberté Chérie, Aurélien Veron, former president and Sabine Herold, cofounder. - Alternativa Liberale (Alternative Libérale, AL) è un partito politico francese. AL è stata fondata il primo marzo 2006, per rappresentare in Francia posizioni politiche liberali sia sui temi economici che sui temi sociali. Il primo presidente di AL è che è anche designato come candidato alle elezioni presidenziali del 2007. Tuttavia non viene raccolto il numero di firme necessarie per la presentazione della candidatura. Edouard Fillias annunciò, quindi, l'appoggio di Alternative Libérale alla candidatura presidenziale di François Bayrou, una scelta non condivisa da tutto il partito. Alle elezioni legislative dello stesso anno AL presentò i propri candidati in una cinquantina di collegi. I risultati solo in pochi casi superarono l'1% con uno score massimo del 2,1%. Il 3 ottobre 2007 Fillias decise di non ricandidarsi presidente ed 28 ottobre venne eletto nuovo presidente di AL.
