- Με την ονομασία Λεοντίς ή Λεωντίς ή Λεοντίς φυλή (αρχαία ελληνικά: Λεοντίς) ή Λεοντίδα φυλή (σύγχρονα ελληνικά) για την φυλή και Λεοντίδα (γενική: Λεοντίδος) για την περιοχή και με το όνομα (άρθρο: ο) Λεοντίδης (αρχαία ελληνικά: Λεωντίδης), ή (άρθρο πληθυντικού: οι) Λεοντίδες (αρχαία ελληνικά: Λεωντίδαι), για τα μέλη της φυλής και τους κατοίκους της περιοχής αυτής, αναφέρεται μια από τις φυλές της Αρχαίας Ελλάδας και μία από τις 10 φυλές της Αρχαίας Αθήνας, οι οποίοι κατοικούσαν στην ομώνυμη περιοχή της Λεοντίδας, η οποία περιλάμβανε μια σειρά από δήμους της περιοχής της σύγχρονης Ελλάδας που είναι γνωστή ως Αττική. - Leontis (altgriechisch Λεωντίς) war die vierte von zehn Verwaltungsregionen (Phylen), in welche Kleisthenes bei seinen Reformen am Ende des 6. Jahrhunderts v. Chr. die attische Halbinsel einteilte. Von den drei früheren Zonen Attikas beinhaltete Leontis die Trittyen Skambonidai (vom Stadtbereich), Hekale (vom Binnenland) und Phrearrhioi (vom Küstenbereich). Aus dem Binnen-Demos stammte der Dichter Kinesias; der südliche Küstendistrikt umfasste auch die äußerste Spitze der Halbinsel mit dem Poseidontempel in Sunion. Im antiken städtischen Bezirk Halimus – heute: Alimos – kam der Historiker und Feldherr Thukydides zur Welt. Ihren Namen verdankte die Phyle dem mythischen Heros Leos, der seine Töchter opferte, um Athen während einer Hungersnot zu retten. Diesen Leoïden errichteten die Einwohner später in Kerameikos das Heiligtum Leokorion. (de)

The phyle is shown on the base of a statue made after an anthippasia to commemorate the victory of the phyle at the mock battle. Themistocles belonged to this phyle. Two horse-men are listed as part of the Catalogus Hippeum in history who possibly belonged to this phyle, they were Euktimenos and Euthymenes, both living during the 3rd century B.C.E. (en)
