- La Trinitaria (Spanish: [la tɾiniˈtaɾja], The Trinity) was a secret society founded in Juan Pablo Duarte's home situated in what today is known as Arzobispo Nouel Street, across from the "Del Carmen's Church" in the then occupied Santo Domingo, the current capital of the Dominican Republic. The founder, Juan Pablo Duarte and a group of like minded young people, led the struggle to establish the Dominican Republic as a free, sovereign, and independent nation in the 19th century. Their goal was to protect their newly liberated country from any foreign invasion. They helped bring about the end of the Haitian occupation of Santo Domingo from 1822 to 1844. (en)
- La Trinitaria fue una sociedad creada el 16 de julio de 1838 por Juan Pablo Duarte y otros dominicanos con el objetivo de realizar acciones tendentes a independizar la parte Este de La Española de la ocupación haitiana y formar el Estado independiente que llamarían República Dominicana. El nombre La Trinitaria le fue puesto en honor a la Santísima Trinidad, Padre, Hijo y Espíritu Santo. El nombre la Trinitaria hace alusión al método de reclutamiento, en el cual cada uno tenía como misión reclutar a otros dos miembros adicionales, y estos a su vez no daban a conocer la identidad de los demás. Esta técnica utilizada fue importada por Duarte tras su estancia en Europa. Juan Pablo Duarte y los otros miembros fundaron la Trinitaria con el Juramento Trinitario, el cual también fue puesto en honor a la Santísima Trinidad. (es)
