- Jerry Weiss (born May 1, 1946 in New York City) is an American trumpet and flugelhorn player, best known as a founding member of the jazz fusion band Blood, Sweat & Tears. He appeared on their critically acclaimed 1968 debut album, Child Is Father to the Man. Weiss left soon afterwards to help form the short-lived horn-band, Ambergris, where he played bass guitar and piano and was the principal arranger. He also contributed three songs on the album and co-wrote another. Weiss has made infrequent appearances on recordings by other artists, including Al Kooper, a fellow Blood, Sweat & Tears member. En 1968 abandona la banda, graba con Moby Grape y The McCoys y forma el grupo , junto a Larry Harlow y , en la misma línea que BS&T, con quienes graba un disco llamado igual que la banda, para Paramount. A comienzo de los años 1970, actúa como parte de la banda de , con quien graba un disco ("Spectrum", 1970). Después trabajará nuevamente con Al Kooper (Al's Big Deal, 1975). A partir de entonces, el abuso de las drogas y una enfermedad mental, nunca diagnosticada, lo apartan de la escena musical, a la que sólo regresará muy puntualmente, publicándose un par de discos en los que aparece con (2002, tocando violín) y (2007).
