- La Sociedad Interamericana de Prensa (SIP), es una asociación de propietarios, editores y directores de diarios, periódicos y agencias informativas de América. Los integrantes de la SIP representan más de 1300 periódicos y revistas. Fue creada en 1943 en La Habana, como resultado de la Comisión Permanente del II Congreso Panamericano de Periodistas en la Ciudad de México en 1942. Promueve una amplia gama de galardones y todos los años otorga el "Premio SIP a la Libertad de Prensa". (es)
- The Inter American Press Association (IAPA; Spanish: Sociedad Interamericana de Prensa, SIP) is a press advocacy group representing major media organizations in North America, South America and the Caribbean. It is made up of more than 1,300 print publications throughout the Western Hemisphere and is based in Miami, Florida. Every year it issues its IAPA/SIP Excellence in Journalism Awards in the fields of cartoon, online news coverage, news coverage, coverage on mobile phones, features, human rights and community service, photography, infographics, opinion, data journalism, in-depth journalism and press freedom. IAPA has two autonomous affiliates – the IAPA Press Institute, which offers Latin American members advice on technical publishing matters and politics and the IAPA Scholarship Fund, which provides funds for educational activities. IAPA is a member of the International Freedom of Expression Exchange, a global network of more than 70 non-governmental organisations that monitors press freedom and freedom of expression violations worldwide. It has been criticized by many Latin American journalists' trade unions, who claim that it only represents the owners of the large media corporations, that it does not seem to defend journalists themselves, and that it is closely related to right-wing parties. - L'Association de la presse interaméricaine (en espagnol, Sociedad Interamericana de Prensa, SIP ; en anglais, Inter American Press Association, IAPA) est une organisation non gouvernementale de défense de la liberté de la presse dans les différents pays américains (Amériques du Sud, centrale et du Nord), créée en 1942. L'organisation fonctionnait à l'origine sur le principe « un pays, une voix ». En 1950, sous l’impulsion de la CIA et du Département d’État, la SIP change de fonctionnement et adopte le principe « un journal, une voix », permettant aux États-Unis, qui possédaient de loin le plus grand nombre de titres de presse, de contrôler l'organisation. Le journaliste Pascual Serrano souligne que dès lors « son orientation était axée sur l’appui inconditionnel à la politique étrangère des États-Unis, à la lutte antisyndicale et anticommuniste inspirée par Mac Carthy et la promotion du libéralisme économique ». La SIP, bien qu’officiellement engagée en faveur de la liberté de la presse, a été critiquée pendant la guerre froide pour sa proximité avec des régimes dictatoriaux anticommunistes tels que la dictature militaire d'Augusto Pinochet au Chili, la dictature militaire en Argentine ou encore la dictature de la famille Somoza au Nicaragua. Fondata nel 1943, rappresenta oltre 1.300 quotidiani e riviste americani. Gli obbiettivi dell'associazione sono: difendere la libertà di stampa; proteggere gli interessi della stampa nelle Americhe; promuovere il giornalismo professionale e responsabile; incoraggiare il raggiungimento di standard alti di professionalità e condotta.
