- The Intelligenzaktion Pommern was a Nazi German operation aimed at the eradication of the Polish intelligentsia in Pomeranian Voivodeship and the surrounding areas at the beginning of World War II. It was part of a larger genocidal Intelligenzaktion that took place across most of Nazi-occupied western Poland in the course of Operation Tannenberg (Unternehmen Tannenberg), purposed to install Nazi officials from SiPo, Kripo, Gestapo and SD at the helm of a new administrative machine. On the direct orders from Adolf Hitler, carried out by Reinhard Heydrich's bureau of Referat Tannenberg along with Heinrich Himmler’s established Reich Security Main Office (RSHA), Poles from among intelligentsia and elites were rounded up, and executed without any due process by the SS-Einsatzgruppen in dozens of remote locations such as the forest massacres in Piaśnica and the cavernous Valley of Death. Starting right after the invasion in September 1939, with a second wave in the spring of 1940, these actions were an early measure of the German Generalplan Ost colonization. (en)
- Intelligenzaktion na Pomorzu, określana także mianem Säuberungsaktion, „krwawej pomorskiej jesieni”, „niemieckiego Katynia 1939” – szereg aktów eksterminacji bezpośredniej dokonanych przez okupantów niemieckich na ludności polskiej w okresie od pierwszych dni września 1939 roku do pierwszych miesięcy 1940 roku na obszarze blisko 400 miejscowości położonych w 21 powiatach przedwojennego województwa pomorskiego. Bojówki paramilitarnego Selbstschutzu oraz formacje SS i policji niemieckiej zamordowały wtedy na Pomorzu od 30 tys. do 40 tys. Polaków. Obok przedstawicieli tak zwanej „polskiej warstwy przywódczej” na masową skalę mordowani byli m.in. pacjenci szpitali psychiatrycznych oraz zwykli mieszkańcy Pomorza, zadenuncjowani przez swoich niemieckich sąsiadów. Była to najbardziej krwawa spośród wszystkich regionalnych operacji eksterminacyjnych, przeprowadzonych przez Niemców w okupowanej Polsce w ramach tzw. Intelligenzaktion (akcji „Inteligencja”), do czego przyczynił się w pierwszym rzędzie masowy udział przedstawicieli tamtejszej mniejszości niemieckiej w przygotowaniu i dokonaniu ludobójstwa. Od połowy drugiej dekady XXI wieku niemieckie zbrodnie popełnione na Pomorzu w pierwszych miesiącach II wojny światowej są przedmiotem pogłębionych prac badawczych prowadzonych przez Instytut Pamięci Narodowej, który na określenie tych wydarzeń ukuł termin Zbrodnia Pomorska 1939.
