- Als IDTV (engl. Integrated Digital Television), selten auch iDTV, werden Fernsehgeräte bezeichnet, in die ein Empfangsteil für Digitalfernsehen (nach DVB-, ATSC- oder ISDB-Standard) integriert ist. Viele solcher Geräte verfügen auch weiterhin über einen analogen PAL-, SECAM- und/oder NTSC-Empfänger. Solche Geräte benötigen für den DTV-Empfang keine separate Set-Top-Box (STB); Anforderungen wie die Verschlüsselung der Daten auf dem Kabel zwischen STB und Anzeige entfallen weitgehend. Manche Geräte unterstützen jedoch keine Abonnementkarten von Bezahlfernsehanbietern, also ohne einen externen Dekoder nur frei empfangbares Fernsehen (FTA, free to air). Andere Geräte stellen eine Schnittstelle (Common Interface, CI) zur Verfügung, in die ein Modul (Conditional Access Module, CAM) eingesetzt werden kann, das wiederum die Karte aufnimmt. Von separaten Empfängern bekannte Funktionen sind ebenfalls möglich. Dazu zählen Programmführer (EPG, electronic program guide), Rückkanalfähigkeit für interaktives Fernsehen (z. B. mit MHP) oder Aufnahme- und Wiedergabefähigkeiten mittels Festplatten oder DVDs (PVR, personal video recorder). Nach ATSC und ISDB für den amerikanischen und koreanischen bzw. japanischen Markt wird zunehmend auch DVB-T, oft auch in Kombination mit dem technisch sehr ähnlichen DVB-C und/oder DVB-S unterstützt. Derartige Geräte führen z. B. Artec, Humax, Loewe, Metz, Sharp, Sony, TechniSat, Thomson, X4-Tech, Samsung und Toshiba. (de)
- An integrated digital television (IDTV or iDTV) set is a television set with a built in digital tuner, be it for DVB-T2, DVB-S2, DVB-C, DMB-T/H, ATSC standards or ISDB. Most of them also allow reception of analogue signals (PAL, SÉCAM or NTSC). They do away with the need for a set-top box for converting those signals for reception on a television. Most iDTVs do not inherently include support for pay TV, and as a result many are fitted with common interface slots to allow the use of a conditional-access module. They may also include support for other features of a digital television "platform", such as an interactive television engine and support for some form of return channel. A small number of iDTVs include a digital video recorder, which removes the need for an external PVR, possibly requiring its own digital set-top box. The particular tuner varies by country. For example, in many European countries such as Germany and Sweden, DVB-C (cable) is the most common digital TV tuner in televisions, whereas in the UK, most televisions have a DVB-T (terrestrial) tuner instead. De flesta av dem kan också ta emot analoga signaler (PAL, SECAM eller NTSC). Det gör att nödvänligheten av en separat digitalbox för att kunna se på TV försvinner. Många iDTVs saknar dock möjligheten att visa betal-TV, och som ett resultat är många av dem utrustade med en -slot (CI) som man stoppar en CA-modul med sitt programkort i. De kan också omfatta möjlighet för andra funktioner i en digital-TV "plattform" såsom kapacitet för att erbjuda interaktiv television och stöd för någon form av returkanal för att kunna skicka signaler tillbaks till innehållsleverantören. Några få iDTVs har stöd för Personal Video Recorder (PVR), som gör det möjligt att spela in sändningar och som tar bort behovet av en fristående PVR-inspelare, som i sin tur eventuellt kan kräva sin egen digitalbox.
