- المشاعر المؤيدة للهند أو هندوفيليا هو مصطلح يصف اهتمام شخص غير هندي في الثقافة والشعب الهندي. وبشكل أكثر تحديدًا للثقافة والحضارة في شبه القارة الهندية، وهي تنتشر خاصًة في ألمانيا. وهو ما تشأ عنه فرع العلوم الهندية وهي فرع درسات أكاديمية يتعلق جوانب الثقافة والتاريخ والمطبخ واللغات والتقاليد والشعب الهندي. مصطلح مشابه لكن يعكس ظاهرة الخوف والنفور من الجوانب الاجتماعية والسياسية والعرقية المتعلقة في الهند يسمى معاداة الهند. - Indomania or Indophilia refer to the special interest that India, Indians and their cultures and traditions have generated across the world, more specifically among the cultures and civilisations of the Indian subcontinent, as well those of the Arab and Western worlds (particularly in Germany). The initial British interest in governing their newly absorbed territories awoke the interest in India, in particular its culture and ancient history. Later the people with interests in Indian aspects came to be known as Indologists and their subject as Indology. Its opposite is Indophobia. (en)
- L'indomanie (ou indophilie) désigne, chez une personne étrangère à la nation indienne, son goût prononcé pour les aspects culturels et civilisationnels développés par ce pays, ainsi que leur rayonnement. Les personnes concernées sont qualifiées d'« indophiles ». Son terme opposé est l'indophobie. Il se réfère à l'intérêt particulier que l'Inde a suscité dans le monde occidental - spécialement en Allemagne, — et plus particulièrement, la culture et la civilisation du sous-continent indien — et ce principalement au cours des XVIIIe et XIXe siècles avec un renouveau au cours du XXe siècle dans les années 1960. Lors des débuts du colonialisme, notamment au cours de la conquête du Bengale, tout ce qui concerne l'Inde avait un aspect de la nouveauté, surtout en Grande-Bretagne. Cet enthousiasme a généré auprès de nombre de personnes l'envie d'étudier tout ce qui concerne l'Inde, et en particulier sa culture et son histoire. (fr)
