- Idelisa Bonnelly (Santiago de los Caballeros, 10 de septiembre de 1931), és una biòloga marina dominicana considerada la «mare de la conservació marina al Carib», fundadora de l'estudi de la biologia a la República Dominicana, així com de l'Institut de Biologia Marina i de la Fundació Dominicana per a la Investigació Marina. Va ser instrumental en la creació del primer Santuari de Balenes Geperudes de l'Atlàntic Nord i ha guanyat nombrosos premis, incloent la Medalla Marie Curie de la Unesco i l'Orden al Mérito de Duarte, Sánchez y Mella. Fue fundamental en la creación del primer Santuario de Ballenas Jorobadas del Atlántico Norte y recibió numerosos premios, incluyendo la Medalla Marie Curie de la Unesco y la Orden al Mérito de Duarte, Sánchez y Mella. She was the founder of the study of biology in the Dominican Republic, as well as the founder of the Institute of Marine Biology and the Dominican Foundation for Marine Research. She was instrumental in the creation of the first Humpback Whale Sanctuary of the North Atlantic and has won numerous awards, including induction into the UNEP's Global 500 Roll of Honour, UNESCO's Marie Curie Medal and the Order of Merit of Duarte, Sánchez and Mella.
