- Hudson River Region AVA (anerkannt seit dem 6. Juli 1982) ist ein Weinbaugebiet im US-Bundesstaat New York. Das Gebiet liegt im Verwaltungsgebiet Columbia County und grenzt an die Countys Rensselaer County, Greene County sowie Ulster County. Trotz der umfänglichen Definition des Anbaugebiets liegen die Rebflächen selten weiter als 3 km vom Hudson River entfernt. Sie besetzen dabei Hanglagen westlich des Flusses, der von Norden kommend in südliche Richtung fließt. Bei dieser Ausrichtung der Lage kann die Rebfläche von der morgendlichen Sonne aufgewärmt werden. Meeresbrisen, die durch das Tal des Hudsons bis in die Weinbauregion gelangen kühlen das Klima im Sommer, verhelfen den Weinbergen jedoch im Winter zu günstigeren Verhältnissen als im Umfeld. Mit dem Weingut Brotherhood Winery, das im Jahr 1839 gegründet wurde, verfügt das Gebiet über das älteste noch in Betrieb befindliche Gut Nordamerikas. Das insgesamt kühle Weinbauklima wirkt sich in der Wahl der Rebsorten aus. Neben sehr winterharten Hybridreben fällt die Wahl auch zunehmend auf frühreifende europäische Edelreben. (de)
- The Hudson River Region AVA is an American Viticultural Area around the Hudson River in eastern New York. The region is home to the oldest continuously operating winery in North America, the Brotherhood Winery, established in 1839. The oldest continuously cultivated vineyard in North America is also located in the Hudson River Region AVA, and is today operated by . Most vineyards in the region are located within 2 miles (3.2 km) of the river. The Hudson River flows from north to south, and most vineyards are planted on hills on the western side of the river, where early morning sunshine can rapidly warm the vines. Ocean breezes channeled north up the river help to moderate the climate in the region, making it cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter than surrounding areas. The hardiness zone ranges from 7a to 6a. The most important grape varieties in the area are French hybrids and cool-climate Vitis vinifera varieties. (en)
