- Hackers: Heroes of the Computer Revolution (ISBN 0-385-19195-2) is a book by Steven Levy about hacker culture. It was published in 1984 in Garden City, New York by Doubleday. Levy describes the people, the machines, and the events that defined the Hacker Culture and the Hacker Ethic, from the early mainframe hackers at MIT, to the self-made hardware hackers and game hackers. The book saw an edition with a new afterword (entitled "Afterword: Ten Years After") by the author in 1994. In 2010, a 25th anniversary edition with updated material was published by O'Reilly. (en)

Levy parte dai pionieri del MIT degli anni cinquanta, alle prese con i cosiddetti "bestioni" (enormi computer come l'IBM 704), passando per i primi home computer come l'Altair 8800 e l'Apple I di Steve Wozniak, che sdoganarono l'informatica rendendola accessibile a chiunque; gli anni ottanta con i primi produttori di software (in particolare di videogiochi) come la Sierra Online e la Sirius Software, per finire con le imprese di Richard Stallman, considerato da Levy come "l'ultimo grande hacker". Il libro è stato ripubblicato nel 1994 con una post-fazione (intitolata "Dieci anni dopo").
