- Helma z Guisboroughu je římská bronzová jezdecká helma nalezená roku 1864 nedaleko v v Anglii. Původně na ni byl připevněn pár ochranných lícních dílů, které se však nedochovaly. Zbyly po nich pouze otvory v místě jejich původního připevnění k přilbě, které se nachází před částí chránící uši. Přilba je bohatě zdobena reliéfními motivy. Díky svému uměleckému provedení byla pravděpodobně používána během přehlídek, i když mohla být nošena i v bitvě. V době nálezu byla přilba zdánlivě pečlivě uložena ve štěrkovém loži v oblasti vzdálené od všech známých římských nalezišť. Objevena byla během silničních prací a poté darována Britskému muzeu v Londýně, kde byla následně restaurována a vystavena. (cs)
- Der römische Helmtyp Guisborough-Theilenhofen wird von den meisten Wissenschaftlern als maskenloser sogenannter Paradehelm der Auxiliartruppen angesehen, wie er bei den normierten Reiterübungen der Kavallerie Verwendung fand. Andere wiederum sehen in dem Stück einen regulären Kampfhelm der mittleren Kaiserzeit. Namensgebend waren die Fundorte der beiden wichtigsten Vertreter dieses Typs im englischen Guisborough sowie im Lagerdorf (Vicus) des rätischen Limeskastells Theilenhofen (Iciniacum). Wissenschaftlich gesicherte Helme dieser im Fundgut äußerst seltenen Art wurden außerdem im gallischen Cabillonum Chalon-sur-Saône, am oberpannonischen Donaukastell Gerulata und im siebenbürgischen Kaltherberg (Războieni-Cetate) gefunden. - The Guisborough Helmet is a Roman cavalry bronze helmet found in 1864 near Guisborough in the North Riding of Yorkshire, England. It was originally fitted with a pair of protective cheek-pieces, which have not survived; the holes by which they were attached can be seen in front of the helmet's ear guards. It is lavishly decorated with incised, punched and embossed figures, indicating that it was probably used for displays or cavalry tournaments, though it may well have been intended to be worn in battle as well. The helmet was found in what appears to have been a carefully arranged deposition in a bed of gravel, distant from any known Roman sites. After it was recovered during road works it was donated to the British Museum in London, where it was restored and is currently on display. (en)

Il était monté d'origine avec une paire de pièces de protection des joues, qui n'ont pas été retrouvées ; les trous par lesquels ces protections étaient attachées sont visibles à l'avant des protections d'oreilles. Il est doté d'un riche décor en relief, avec des figures à la fois gravées et embouties, indiquant que c'était un casque d'apparat, probablement utilisé dans des parades ou des tournois, mais il peut très bien avoir été porté sur le champ de bataille. Le casque a été trouvé au cours de travaux de voirie, soigneusement disposé dans ce qui semble avoir été un dépôt aménagé dans un lit de gravier, loin de tout site romain connu.
