Die Große und greuelreiche Kirche wird dabei als Synonym für die Hure Babylon verwendet. Von dieser wird im Buch der Offenbarung im Kapitel 17 gesprochen. The great and abominable church is identified as being synonymous with the Whore of Babylon described in chapter 17 of the Book of Revelation.
