- A go-fast boat is a small, fast power boat designed with a long narrow platform and a planing hull. During the United States alcohol prohibition era, these boats were used in "rum-running", transferring illegal liquor from larger vessels waiting outside US territorial waters to the mainland. Their high speed enabled them to avoid interception by the law enforcement. The present conception of such boats is based largely on designs by Donald Aronow for offshore powerboat racing in the 1960s. During this period, these boats were also used by drug smugglers to transfer drugs across the Caribbean to the United States. (en)
- Un go fast (« Go-fast boat » en anglais) est une puissante embarcation à moteur utilisée pour le transport de produits stupéfiants ou de contrebande. Les go fast ont pour mission de convoyer des marchandises illicites en haute mer en échappant aux garde-côtes. À l'origine ce sont des embarcations utilisées dans les courses motonautiques de vitesse offshore, mais l'expression désigne également les barques surmotorisées qui traversent la mer des Caraïbes pour acheminer vite et discrètement la cocaïne d'Amérique du Sud vers les États-Unis. La technique s'est aujourd'hui développée en Méditerranée pour acheminer vers l'Europe la résine de cannabis en provenance du Nord du Maroc, mais aussi des cigarettes de contrebande, voire du trafic d'êtres humains.
