- المبادرة العالمية للتقارير هي منظمة دولية مستقلة للمعايير، تساعد الشركات والحكومات والمنظمات الأخرى على فهم تأثيرها على قضايا -مثل تغير المناخ وحقوق الإنسان والفساد- وإعلانها. تنشر العديد من الشركات تقارير الاستدامة، المعروفة أيضًا باسم المسؤولية الاجتماعية للشركات أو التقرير البيئي والاجتماعي والحوكمي، تحت ضغوط متزايدة من مختلف مجموعات أصحاب المصالح مثل الحكومات والمستهلكين والمستثمرين؛ لتكون أكثر شفافية بما يتعلق بآثارها البيئية والاقتصادية والاجتماعية. يساعد «إطار عمل المبادرة العالمية للتقارير لإعداد التقارير عن الاستدامة» الشركات على تحديد هذه المعلومات وجمعها وإعلانها بطريقة واضحة قابلة للمقارنة. أُطلق إطار كتابة التقارير عن الاستدامة في المبادرة العالمية للتقارير لأول مرة عام 2000، وتستخدمه -اليوم على نطاق واسع- المنظمات متعددة الجنسيات والحكومات والمؤسسات الصغيرة ومتوسطة الحجم والمنظمات غير الحكومية والمجموعات الصناعية في أكثر من 90 دولة. عام 2017، أعلنت 63 في المئة من أكبر 100 شركة، و75 في المئة من أكبر 250 شركة تطبيق إطار إعداد التقارير للمبادرة العالمية للتقارير. أحدث أطر إعداد تقارير للمبادرة هي معايير المبادرة العالمية للتقارير التي أُطلقت في أكتوبر من العام 2016. طورها المجلس العالمي لمعايير الاستدامة حتى باتت تُعتبر اليوم من المعايير العالمية الأولى لإعداد التقارير عن الاستدامة، خاصةً أنها منفعة عامة مجانية. على عكس أطر إعداد التقارير السابقة، يوجد لأسس المبادرة العالمية للتقارير ومواصفاتها هيكلٌ معياري، ما يجعلها أسهل تحديثًا وتكيّفًا. - The Global Reporting Initiative (known as GRI) is an international independent standards organization that helps businesses, governments and other organizations understand and communicate their impacts on issues such as climate change, human rights and corruption. GRI provides the world's most widely used sustainability reporting standards (the GRI Standards) Under increasing pressure from different stakeholder groups – such as governments, consumers and investors – to be more transparent about their environmental, economic and social impacts, many companies publish a sustainability report, also known as a corporate social responsibility (CSR) or environmental, social and governance (ESG) report. GRI's framework for sustainability reporting helps companies identify, gather and report this information in a clear and comparable manner. First launched in 2000, GRI's sustainability reporting framework is now the most widely used by multinational organizations, governments, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), NGOs and industry groups in more than 90 countries. In 2017, 63 percent of the largest 100 companies (N100), and 75 percent of the Global Fortune 250 (G250) reported applying the GRI reporting framework. The most recent of GRI's reporting frameworks are the GRI Standards, launched in October 2016. Developed by the Global Sustainability Standards Board (GSSB), the GRI Standards are the first global standards for sustainability reporting and are a free public good. Le GRI fournit les exigences et les lignes directrices pour la déclaration annuelle (reporting) des activités d'une organisation en matière de développement durable. Les objectifs de cette démarche sont d'assurer la transparence et la responsabilité sociale et environnementale des organisations. Le GRI est fondé vers la fin de 1997 à partir de l'association de la coalition pour les économies environnementalement responsables (CERES) et l'institut Tellus avec l'implication du programme des Nations unies pour l'environnement (PNUE). En 2000, le GRI publie la première édition des lignes directrices (G1) qui sont par la suite révisées en 2002 (G2), 2006 (G3) et 2013 (G4). - Il Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) è un ente internazionale senza scopo di lucro nato con il fine di definire gli standard di rendicontazione della performance sostenibile (conosciuto anche come bilancio sociale) di aziende e organizzazioni di qualunque dimensione, appartenenti a qualsiasi settore e paese del mondo. Il GRI ha sviluppato e elaborato i GRI Standard che costituiscono un quadro di riferimento per la rendicontazione da parte degli organismi di cui sopra. Gli standard GRI sono costituiti dagli standard universali e da tre standard specifici per l'ambito economico, ambientale e sociale. Il più recente quadro di riferimento del GRI è stato introdotto nell'ottobre 2016. Un aggiornamento degli standard universali del GRI è attualmente in corso. Il rilascio degli standard universali aggiornati è previsto per la seconda metà del 2021. (it)

In een duurzaamheidsverslag communiceert een organisatie publiekelijk over haar economische, milieu- en sociale prestaties. De missie van GRI is om duurzaamheidsverslaggeving voor alle organisaties – ongeacht omvang, sector of locatie – zo routinematig en vergelijkbaar te maken als financiële verslaggeving. Transparantie ten aanzien van de duurzame ontwikkeling van de activiteiten van organisaties is van belang voor uiteenlopende partijen, waaronder het bedrijfsleven, werknemersorganisaties, maatschappelijke organisaties, beleggers en de accountancy-sector. Het GRI richt zich op de samenwerking binnen een omvangrijk netwerk van deskundigen vanuit al deze groepen belanghebbenden in het kader van een consensusgericht overleg. De op leren gerichte benadering met meerdere belanghebbenden heeft geleid tot de brede aanvaarding ervan onder diverse groepen belanghebbenden. Het internationale secretariaat van het GRI is sinds september 2002 gevestigd in Amsterdam. In een concurrentiestrijd met andere steden heeft het GRI voor deze vestigingsplaats gekozen om de volgende redenen:
* de sterke steun van de Nederlandse overheid voor duurzaamheidsverslaglegging en verantwoord ondernemen;
* de aanwezigheid van de hoofdkantoren van Greenpeace en Amnesty International;
* Amsterdam is de vestigingsplaats van vele beursgenoteerde ondernemingen en internationale financiële instellingen;
* de aanwezigheid van een goed vliegveld. Piet Sprengers, toenmalige directeur van de Vereniging van Beleggers voor Duurzame Ontwikkeling (VBDO) en Folkert van der Molen van advies- en ingenieursbureau DHV hebben actief gelobbyd om het internationale hoofdkantoor naar Nederland te halen. (nl)

Под растущим давлением со стороны различных групп заинтересованных сторон, таких как правительства, потребители и инвесторы многие компании, чтобы быть более прозрачными в своих экологических, экономических и социальных сферах публикуют отчет об устойчивом развитии. Этот отчет известен также как отчет о корпоративной социальной ответственности (КСО) или экологическая, социальная ответственность и отчет об управлении (ESG). Система GRI представляет собой набор положений и документов, подготовленных в результате международных консультаций с участием многочисленных заинтересованных сторон. Указанные документы предназначены для того, чтобы помочь компаниям выявлять, собирать и сообщать эту информацию в ясной и сопоставимой форме с помощью отчётов в области устойчивого развития и раскрытии информации о снижении вредного воздействия на окружающую среду, о социальной ответственности и корпоративном управлении..
