He has a Ph.D. in musicology from the University of Helsinki, where he studied with Eero Tarasti (2006–2011). He received bachelor's and master's degrees in composition at the Royal Conservatoire, The Hague (2000–2004), where he studied with Clarence Barlow. He also studied at the Composers’ Workshop of the National Conservatoire of Music, Mexico City (1995–1998), with Mario Lavista. (en)

En años recientes ha incursionado en la producción cinematográfica experimental y con guiones históricos en lengua nahuatl. Tiene un Ph.D. en musicología por la Universidad de Helsinki, donde estudió con Eero Tarasti (2006–2011). Recibió el grado como maestro en composición en el Conservatorio Real, La Haya (2000–2004), donde estudió con . - Gabriel Pareyon (Zapopan, 23 oktober 1974) is een Mexicaans componist en musicoloog. Hij studeerde aan de Componistenworkshop van het Nationaal Conservatorium van Muziek, Mexico-Stad (1995-98), en hij ontving een Mastersgraad in componeren aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium te Den Haag, waar hij samen met en Martijn Padding studeerde. Op dit moment volgt Pareyon een doctoraal onderzoeksproject over cognitie, taal en muziek, aan de Universiteit van Helsinki. In 2006 won hij de eerste prijs in de Wereld-Saxofooncompetitie te Bangkok. Al eerder ontving hij de titel van Laureaat tijdens de Internationale Tsjaikovski Conservatorium Componistencompetitie (Moskou, 2003). In 2001 ontving hij de internationale Andrzej Panufnik-prijs (Krakau). Pareyons oeuvre bevat werken voor solisten en ensembles, koor, symfonieorkest, opera en muziektheater. (nl)
