- Die Chacal (deutsch: Schakal) war ein Großzerstörer der Chacal-Klasse für die französische Marine. Obwohl das Schiff weder den ersten Stapellauf, noch die erste Indienststellung hatte, gilt sie als Typschiff ihrer Klasse. Die Chacal wurde am 24. Mai 1940 vor Boulogne-sur-Mer durch deutsche Bomber vom Typ Heinkel He 111 und Artillerie zum Wrack geschossen und zum Totalverlust erklärt. (de)
- The French destroyer Chacal was the name ship of her class of destroyers (contre-torpilleur) built for the French Navy during the 1920s. Initially assigned to the Mediterranean Squadron, she spent most of the following decade as a training ship. The ship was assigned convoy escort duties in the Atlantic after the start of World War II in September 1939 until she was committed to the English Channel after the Battle of France began in May 1940. Chacal was crippled by German bombers and artillery on 23/24 May and had to beach herself near Boulogne-sur-Mer. (en)

Le 28 mars 1922, la Chambre des députés adopte le programme naval qui contient, entre autres, la construction de 6 contre-torpilleurs de 2 100 tonnes : le Chacal, le Jaguar, le Panthère, le Léopard, le Lynx et le Tigre.La construction du Chacal commence le 18 septembre 1923 à Penhoët. Il sera lancé le 27 septembre 1924 et entrera en armement définitif le 1er mai 1926.Jusqu'en 1940, le Chacal effectuera différentes campagnes en compagnie des autres contre-torpilleurs de classe Jaguar. FS Chacal) — військовий корабель, лідер ескадрених міноносців, , що входив до складу Військово-морського флоту Франції у роки Другої світової війни. «Шакал» був закладений 18 вересня 1923 року на верфі компанії Ateliers et Chantiers de Saint-Nazaire Penhoët у Сен-Назері. 27 вересня 1923 року він був спущений на воду, а 7 жовтня 1926 року увійшов до складу ВМС Франції. 23 травня 1940 року разом з однотипним лідером «Леопард» та ще вісьмома малими есмінцями «Шакал» здійснював вогневу підтримку військ, що опинилися в оточенні на дюнкеркських пляжах. Вночі з 23 на 24 травня був серйозно пошкоджений німецькою авіацією під час нальоту 40 Ju-87 I. та III./StG.2 на порт Кале, вимушено викинувся на мілину між Амблетез і Вімере, де був залишений екіпажем.
