The team's main sponsor was Parmalat. The FG01 is also notably the last F1 car to sport a conventional manual gearbox + H-pattern shifter, and was the only car to use one on the grid. Elle est pilotée par le Brésilien Pedro Diniz, en provenance du championnat international de Formule 3000, et son compatriote Roberto Moreno, dont la dernière apparition en Formule 1 remonte à la saison 1992, au sein de l'écurie italienne Andrea Moda Formula. Conçue par les ingénieurs Sergio Rinland et Giorgio Stirano, la Forti FG01-95 est largement inspirée de la Fondmetal GR02, une des monoplaces les moins performantes de la saison 1992. Du fait de cette ressemblance avec la monoplace obsolète, la Forti s'avère être l'une des voitures les plus lentes du plateau et ne peut lutter qu'avec la Pacific PR02 et la Simtek S951. Malgré les légers progrès réalisés en fin de saison, Pedro Diniz quitte l'écurie, emportant avec lui ses puissants soutiens financiers, mettant ainsi à mal l'avenir de l'écurie italienne pour le championnat 1996.
