- Els fernandinos són un poble de criolls, multiètnics o multiracials establits a l'antiga Guinea Espanyola, actual Guinea Equatorial. El seu nom deriva de l'illa de Fernando Poo, on hi molts hi treballaven. L'illa va rebre el nom de l'explorador portuguès Fernão do Pó, qui va descobrir la regió. Cada població tenia una història ètnica, social, cultural i lingüística diferent. Els membres d'aquestes comunitats proporcionen la major part de la mà d'obra que va construir i expandir la indústria del cultiu de cacau a Fernando Poo durant els anys 1880 i 1890. Els fernandinos de Fernando Poo estaven estretament relacionats entre si. A causa de la història de treball en aquesta àrea, on els treballadores eren reclutats (i efectivament alliberats) a partir de , Cape Coast i , els fernandinos també tenien llaços familiars en aquestes àrees. - Fernandinos are creoles, multi-ethnic or multi-racial populations who developed in Equatorial Guinea (Spanish Guinea). Their name is derived from the island of Fernando Pó, where many worked. This island was named for the Portuguese explorer Fernão do Pó, credited with discovering the region. Each population had a distinct ethnic, social, cultural and linguistic history. Members of these communities provided most of the labor that built and expanded the cocoa farming industry on Fernando Pó during the 1880s and 1890s. The Fernandinos of Fernando Po were closely related to each other. Because of the history of labor in this area, where workers were recruited, effectively impressed, from Freetown, Cape Coast, and Lagos, the Fernandinos also had family ties to those areas. Eventually these ethnically distinct groups intermarried and integrated. In 21st-century Bioko, their differences are considered marginal. (en)

Cada población tuvo en sus inicios un distinto origen étnico, social, así como una historia cultural y lingüística propia. Los miembros de estas comunidades proporcionaron la mayoría de la mano de obra para la construcción y expansión de la industria agrícola del cacao en Fernando Poo entre 1880 y 1900. Debido a la historia de trabajo en esta región, donde los trabajadores eran reclutados principalmente en Sierra Leona, Camerún, Cuba y Nigeria, los fernandinos también mantuvieron lazos familiares en aquellos territorios. Finalmente se produjeron entre personas de estos grupos étnicamente distintos matrimonios que favorecieron la integración entre grupos de diferentes orígenes. En el Bioko del siglo XXI las diferencias entre los diferentes grupos fernandinos se consideran insignificantes.
