- The Eurasia Canal (Russian: Канал "Евразия", Kanal "Evraziya") is a proposed 700-kilometre-long (430 mi) canal connecting the Caspian Sea to the Black Sea along the Kuma-Manych Depression. Currently, a chain of lakes and reservoirs and the shallow irrigation Kuma-Manych Canal are found along this route. If completed the canal would also link several landlocked countries in Asia with the open seas through the Bosphorus. The canal is intended to provide a shorter route for shipping than the existing Volga–Don Canal system of waterways; it would also require fewer locks (or lower-rise locks) than the Volga-Don route. Manych Ship Canal is the existing canal system that would be the likely route for the Eurasian Canal. (en)

Den skall förbättra förbindelsen mellan Kaspiska havet och Svarta havet och minska restiden för de fartyg som idag går genom Volga–Donkanalen. Projektet lanserades av Kazakstans president år 2007 och har fått stöd av Kina. Kanalen föreslås gå i Kuma-Manytj-sänkan längs en mindre kanal för bevattning och utnyttja befintliga vattenmagasin och sjöar. Den beräknas bli 110 meter bred och 6,5 meter djup med totalt sex slussar och transportera fartyg med en dräktighet på upp till 10 000 ton. Med en kapacitet på 75 miljoner ton om året kan den jämföras med kanalen mellan Chesapeake Bay och Delawarefloden i östra USA. (sv)
