- Epic ist ein Miniaturenspiel (auch Tabletop-Spiel genannt) im Warhammer 40.000-Universum das 1997 veröffentlicht wurde. Im Gegensatz zu den besser bekannten Spielen Warhammer 40.000 und Warhammer Fantasy Battle wird Epic jedoch mit Figuren im 6 mm-Maßstab (1:285) gespielt. Das Spiel wird nicht mehr direkt von Games Workshop vertrieben, sondern von einem Unternehmensbereich mit dem Namen Specialist Games. Als Supplement einer der ersten Ausgaben von Warhammer 40,000 Epic wurde ein Buch mit dem Titel Codex Titanicus – Expansion Rules for Epic Battles veröffentlicht. Erschienen ist das Supplement 1988. - Epic is a tabletop wargame set in the fictional Warhammer 40,000 universe. Whereas Warhammer 40,000 involves small battles between forces of a few squads of troops and two or three vehicles, Epic features battles between armies consisting of dozens of tanks and hundreds of soldiers. Due to the comparatively larger size of the battles, Epic miniatures are smaller than those in Warhammer 40,000, with a typical human being represented with a 6mm high figure, as opposed to the 28mm minis used in Warhammer 40,000. Since being first released in 1988 as Adeptus Titanicus, it has gone through various editions with varying names. In the Warhammer Fantasy universe, Warmaster fills much the same "large-scale battle" role as Epic does in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, though the two systems do not share rules. (en)
- Epic est un jeu de figurines issu de l'univers Warhammer 40,000 de Games Workshop. Les figurines mesurent 6 mm contre 28 mm pour celles de Warhammer 40,000. Grâce à cette différence d'échelle, le jeu s'avère plus stratégique en comparaison de Warhammer 40k, qui est plus tactique. Les adversaires alignent souvent des armées composées d'une quinzaine de régiments (unités, effectif non défini allant de la centaine au millier de combattants) pour les parties rapides (1 500 points d'armée) ou plus ambitieuses (entre 3 000 et 5 000 points, parfois plus). Chaque unité appartient à un type : infanterie, marcheurs, véhicules ou titans, ce qui lui confère des règles de mouvement particulières. Chaque armée de Warhammer 40,000 est représentée. Malgré son abandon quasi complet par l'éditeur, le système Epic est activement maintenu en vie par sa communauté qui se rassemble sur le net via le forum epic_fr, le groupe Facebook epic_fr ou différents serveurs Discord Epic Armageddon et NetEpic. - Epic Armageddon (EA40K) (prima anche solamente Epic o Epic 40.000) è un gioco da tavolo di tipo wargame tridimensionale ispirato alla cupa ed oscura ambientazione futuristica di Warhammer 40.000, che prevede miniature alte però 6mm, per permettere la ricreazione di battaglie campali di enorme scala (tattiche, ma anche strategiche); prodotto dalla Games Workshop e dalla società che gli fa capo Forge World dal 1988. Il titolo nelle varie versioni ed espansioni (1989, 1990, 1997, 2004) a differenza di Apocalisse, introduce nuovi mezzi e unità di terra, tra cui i grandi mecha ( detti titani) e altri tipi di carri armati; anche in questo gioco sono poi utilizzabili le nuove unità aeree, che si hanno a disposizione con il gioco Aeronautica Imperialis. W odróżnieniu od bardziej popularnej gry Warhammer 40,000, konflikty w grze Epic toczą się na większą skalę. Tym samym figurki reprezentujące jednostki są mniejsze – przedstawiają całe niewielkie oddziały.
