- Der Egmond-Halbmarathon (offizielle Bezeichnung PWN Egmond Halve Marathon) ist ein Halbmarathon im Ferienort Egmond aan Zee an der nordholländischen Nordseeküste, der jedes Jahr am zweiten Wochenende im Januar stattfindet. Die Erstaustragung fand 1973 statt; damit ist das Rennen eines der ältesten über diese Distanz in Europa. Veranstalter ist der Verein Le Champion, der auch den Dam tot Damloop ausrichtet. Zum Programm gehört auch ein Viertelmarathon (10,5 km). Der Lauf ist in verschiedener Hinsicht anspruchsvoll. Zum einen stellt das winterliche Wetter eine Herausforderung dar, zum anderen verläuft der Kurs, nachdem er 5 km durch den Ort geführt hat, 7 km über den Strand nach Süden und kehrt danach auf Naturwegen durch das Dünengebiet der Umgebung an den Ausgangspunkt zurück. Mit über 10.000 Startern ist das Laufevent mittlerweile eines der größten in den Niederlanden. 2010 gab es ein Novum, als in der 37. Auflage der Lauf kurz vor dem Start abgesagt wurde. Als Grund gab der Veranstalter an, die örtliche Hilfsorganisation Geneeskundige Hulpverlening bij Ongevallen en Rampen (GHOR) habe wegen des extremen Winterwetters nicht mehr eine adäquate Versorgung für Läufer, die medizinische Hilfe benötigen, garantieren können. - The Egmond Half Marathon (Dutch: Egmond Halve Marathon) is an annual half marathon race over 21.1 kilometres that has been staged in Egmond aan Zee, Netherlands since 1973. The competition normally takes place in early January. Sections of the road race cross along the beach and sand dunes of the village, situated on the North Sea coast. The 2010 edition of the race was cancelled due to poor weather conditions, marking the first break in the race's history. In addition to the elite level races, the event features recreational fun runs for the public, including a team race for friends or colleagues. The first editions of the event attracted around 1000 runners – a number which increased to over 5000 runners by the mid-1980s. A record 10,370 participants competed in 2000 and the race continued to grow in popularity, attracting over 16,500 people for the 2009 edition. A quarter marathon is also held annually and starts several hours before the half marathon. The event is organised by Le Champion – a Dutch running club which also organises the Dam tot Damloop and , among other races. (en)
