- Denis Island (franz. Île Denis) ist nach Bird Island die zweitnördlichste Insel der Republik der Seychellen. Sie liegt 87 km von der Hauptinsel Mahé und 103 km von Victoria entfernt und wird zu den sogenannten „Nördlichen Koralleninseln“ gezählt. Die 1,1 km² große Koralleninsel wurde am 11. August 1773 von entdeckt. Er benannte sie nach sich selbst Isle Denis und nahm sie für Frankreich in Besitz. Trobriand vergrub auf der Insel eine Flasche, in der sich die Urkunde zur Inbesitznahme befand. Damit war die letzte Insel der Hauptgruppe der Seychellen offiziell in französischem Besitz. Wie auf vielen Seychellen-Inseln befindet sich auch auf Denis Island ein privates Resort inklusive Flugplatz. An der Nordküste der Insel befindet sich noch ein Leuchtturm aus dem Jahr 1910. Die dicht mit Kokospalmen und Kasuarinen bestandene Insel ist Teil des „Nature Seychelles“-Projekts zum Erhalt einheimischer Arten. So werden bedrohte Vogelarten wie der Seychellen-Rohrsänger (Acrocephalus sechellensis) oder der (Foudia sechellarum) von anderen Inseln nach Denis Island umgesiedelt. (de)
- Denis Island is the second northeasternmost island in the Seychelles. It is 60 kilometres (37 mi) north of Mahé and lies at the northern edge of the Seychelles bank, along with the nearby Bird Island, which is the northernmost Seychelles island. The 1.4 km2 (0.54 sq mi) coral island was named after the French Navy officer Denis de Trobriand, who explored it in 1773. Denis Island is privately owned and has a short airstrip. It has a holiday resort with 23 guest chalets. A lighthouse built in 1910 still stands on the northern edge of the island. There is also a chapel named Chapel St. Denis. The island has an abundance of coconut palms, Takamaka and Casuarina trees. In 2004, 47 Seychelles fodies from Fregate Island and 58 Seychelles warblers from Cousin Island were relocated to Denis as part of a Nature Seychelles conservation project.
