- El dembow és un gènere musical que es va originar a l'illa de Jamaica arran de la presentació de la cançó «Dem Bow» de l'artista Shabba Ranks el 1990. Després en va aparèixer el riddim («versió instrumental») i el so es va convertir en una part popular del reggaeton. El gènere dembow va arribar posteriorment a Nova York i a Puerto Rico i, finalment, a la República Dominicana. (ca)
- Dembow is a Dominican musical genre that can be traced to a riddim that originated in Jamaican dancehall. When Shabba Ranks released "Dem Bow" in 1990, it did not take long for the dembow genre to form. Riddims were built from the song and the sound became a popular part of reggaeton. From there it took off in Dominican Republic creating the sound UNDERWORLD ("Bajo Mundo" in Spanish). It hit the streets of New York and from there it made its way to all of Latin America. The Dominican Dembow sound keeps evolving and has been fusioned with Trap music since 2016 and it's also fused with Bachata and Merengue from the Dominican Republic. Dembow artists are called "Dembowseros" (en)
- El dembow es un género o ritmo musical originario de República Dominicana y se desarrolló hacia mediados de la década de los 1990. Aunque este tipo de música ha tenido un auge desde mediados de 1995 y comienzo de la década de 2000, sus orígenes se remontan con influencias de rap, reggae y merengue, dancehall y reggaeton. En la década de los 90 es cuando en Puerto Rico estaba en su apogeo el boom del reguetón con «The Noise I» y «Playero 37», que eran beats de reggae sobre instrumentales de rap. Y mientras los boricuas ya explotaban dicho género, en la República Dominicana apenas se empezaba a trabajar en este tipo de música con exponentes como: Manuelito, MC Pay, MC Vi y MC Curdy, quienes en el año 1995 grabaron la canción «El poco tiempo» bajo el nombre de «Grupo Unido».
