Światowej sławy DJ i producent Darude urodził się w Eura w Finlandii. Muzyką interesował się już od małego. Podczas studiów na Turku Polytechnic na imprezie puszczał swój ulubiony kawałek: "Rudeboys" Leila K. Z tego powodu przyjaciele zaczęli nazywać go "Rudeboy", później "the Rude", "da Rude" i w końcu Darude. Jego kariera zaczęła się w 1996 roku, kiedy kupił pierwszy komputer i zaczął tworzyć muzykę elektroniczną za pomocą prostych, darmowych programów. W 1997 i 1998 wysyłał swoje kawałki do radiostacji w Finlandii, ale w odpowiedzi dostawał tylko dobre opinie. W roku 1999 spotkał w Turku swojego idola, Jaakko JS16 Salovaara, któremu dał swoje demo. Po tygodniu zaczęli współpracę i w niedługim czasie ukazał się singel Ville'a Sandstorm, który utrzymywał się przez 17 tygodni na pierwszym miejscu Finish Dance Chart. Singlem zainteresowała się wytwórnia Neo Records w Wielkiej Brytanii. Drugi singel Feel the beat osiągnął jeszcze lepsze rezultaty na całym świecie.
