- Sopa de pollastre amb ordi (títol original en anglès: Chicken Soup with Barley) és una obra de teatre escrita l'any 1956 pel dramaturg anglès Arnold Wesker. És la primera de la "trilogia de Wesker", amb Arrels (Roots) i (I'm Talking About Jerusalem), i es va representar per primera vegada el 1958 als escenaris del de Coventry, i es va traslladar al Royal Court Theatre de Londres poc després aquell mateix any. Es considera que va ser una obra important de la història del teatre britànic de postguerra, i una de les poques obres angleses amb un retrat simpàtic d'una família comunista. (ca)
- Chicken Soup with Barley is a 1956 play by British playwright Arnold Wesker. It is the first of the 'Wesker trilogy' – being followed by Roots and I'm Talking About Jerusalem – and was first performed on stage in 1958 at the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry, transferring later that year to the Royal Court Theatre in London. It is considered to be an important play in the history of post-war British theatre, and one of the few English plays with a sympathetic portrayal of a communist family. The play is split into three acts, each with two scenes. It spans 20 years of the lives of the Jewish, immigrant Kahn family living in 1936 in London, and traces the downfall of their ideals in a changing world, parallel to the disintegration of the family. The protagonists are the parents, Sarah and Harry, and their children, Ada and Ronnie. They are communists, and Wesker explores how they struggle to maintain their convictions in the face of the Second World War, Stalinism, and the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. Sarah is an adamant socialist; she is strong, family-minded, honest though bossy; Harry, her husband, is weak, a liar and lacks conviction; Ada is extremely passionate about what she believes in, especially Marxism, and, like the others, is also romantic both personally and politically; and finally, Ronnie is a romantic, youthful idealist. The character of Sarah was based on Arnold Wesker's aunt, Sarah Wesker, who was a trade union activist in the East End of London. A major revival, starring Samantha Spiro, was staged at the Royal Court in the summer of 2011. (en)
- Hühnersuppe mit Graupen - Tag für Tag - Nächstes Jahr in Jerusalem (engl. Chicken Soup with Barley - Roots - I'm Talking about Jerusalem) ist eine Dramentrilogie von Arnold Wesker. Die Handlung der drei Werke, die nicht als geschlossener Zusammenhang, sondern sprunghaft in Ausschnitten präsentiert wird, erstreckt sich auf einen Zeitraum vom Oktober 1936 bis zum Dezember 1956. Das dramatische Geschehn innerhalb dieser Zeitspanne von 20 Jahren steht dabei jeweils in einem engeren oder lockeren Zusammenhang mit dem Schicksal der jüdischen Arbeiter- und Bauernfamilie Kahn. In allen drei Teilen tritt der junge Ronny Kahn auf, der entweder am Rande des dramatischen Geschehens steht oder aber vom Hintergrund aus dieses maßgeblich mitbestimmt. (de)
