- CGMS-A (Copy Generation Management System-Analog) ist ein Verfahren, CGMS-Daten zusammen mit analogen (Bild-)Signal-Informationen über DRM-Berechtigungsstufen zu übertragen. CGMS ist ein Kopierschutzmechanismus, der von einem Vertriebsstück, zum Beispiel DVDs, nur die Anfertigung einer Generation von Kopien zulässt. Dies geschieht dadurch, dass Zusatzinformationen auf dem Datenträger hinterlegt sind, aus denen hervorgeht, welche Teile des Inhalts des Datenträgers wie häufig kopiert werden dürfen. Bei CGMS-A fügt der DVD-Player seinem analogen Video-Ausgangssignal diese CGMS-Daten bei, die der DVD-Recorder erkennt und das CGMS-Bit damit beantwortet, dass er eine Aufnahme unterbindet. Dabei wird analog – wie bei Macrovision oder Videotext – die Austastlücke des Bildsignals dazu verwendet, mit Signalpegeln die Information zu übertragen, ob und inwieweit eine Aufzeichnung des Bildsignals möglich ist. Die Lage, Intensität und Polarität der Pulse für CGMS-A ist dabei so definiert, dass es sowohl bei SDTV als auch bei HDTV-Bildübertragung funktioniert und weitgehend kompatibel zu den oben genannten Signalformen ist. - Copy Generation Management System – Analog (CGMS-A) is a copy protection mechanism for analog television signals. It consists of a waveform inserted into the non-picture Vertical Blanking Interval (VBI) of an analogue video signal. If a compatible recording device (for example, a DVD recorder) detects this waveform, it may block or restrict recording of the video content. It is not the same as the broadcast flag, which is designed for use in digital television signals, although the concept is the same. There is a digital form of CGMS specified as CGMS-D which is required by the DTCP ("5C") protection standard. (en)
- L'acronyme CGMS qui provient de l'anglais Copy Generation Management System signifie littéralement, système de gestion de génération de copie. Il s'apparente à une restriction anti-copie.Ce dispositif électronique et logiciel a pour objet de restreindre l'enregistrement et la copie de signaux vidéo, notamment provenant de la télédiffusion.Il est décliné sous deux formules ; le CGMS/A est adapté aux signaux analogiques et le CGMS/D concerne les signaux numériques. Exploité commercialement aux États-Unis depuis 1995, ce procédé a été intégré à différentes normalisations internationales. Il est principalement exploité par certains télédiffuseurs (chaînes à péage) et dans certains magnétoscopes, numériscopes, DVDscopes, enregistreurs vidéo numériques et enregistreurs Blu-ray. En France, certains diffuseurs comme Canalsat ou Iliad (Free) intègrent ce dispositif dans tout ou partie de leur offre de chaînes à péage. (fr)
