- Vall d'Assam (Assam Valley o Brahmaputra Valley) fou una divisió de la sota domini britànic entre l'Himàlaia al nord i la serralada d'Assam al sud. La capital era Gawhati. La població era:

* 1901 de 2.619.077 habitants El 72% eren hindús de religió, el 18% animistes, i el 10% musulmans; hi havia alguns jains, budistes i cristians. La superfície era de 63.727 km². Hi havia 10 viles i 8.801 pobles. La capital era Gawhati amb 11.661 habitants el 1901. Altres ciutats eren Dibrugarh (11.227 habitants), Goalpara, Barpeta i Tezpur. L'economia estava basada en el cultiu del te. Estava dividida en sis districtes:

* Kamrup
* Darrang
* Nowgong (Nagaon)
* Sibsagar

- The Brahmaputra Valley is a region situated between hill ranges of the eastern and northeastern Himalayan range in Eastern India. The valley consists of the Western Brahmaputra Valley covering the regions of Goalpara and Kamrup; the Central Brahmaputra Valley region covering Darrang, Nagaon and the North Bank and Eastern Brahmaputra Valley comprising districts of Sonitpur, Lakhimpur, Dibrugarh and Sibsagar. The Teesta River in North Bengal also drains into Brahmaputra River. The Brahmaputra Valley has a total area of 71,516 km² with containing 30 districts. Brahmaputra Valley with its rainforest-like climate contains some of the most productive soils in the world. The Brahmaputra River flows from Assam to Bangladesh where it meets the Ganges River to form the world's largest delta and finally flows into the Bay of Bengal in the south. (en)
